After an eight-year wait, the Colorado Rockies are back in the playoffs.
The Rockies clinched the second National League Wild Card Saturday afternoon when the St. Louis Cardinals rallied to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-6, and eliminate the Brewers. The Cardinals overcame an early 6-0 deficit and scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Saturday night at Coors Field, the Rockies fell to the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-3, in a game that turned out to be meaningless.
The Rockies advance to the postseason for the fourth time in franchise history, also accomplishing the feat in 1995, 2007 and 2009.
The Rockies will play the Arizona Diamondbacks this Wednesday, October 4 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
