Thursday, Major League Baseball made its decision.

Major League Baseball joined the numerous other sports leagues and conferences in temporarily shutting down activity due to COVID-19.

MLB said it was shutting down Spring Training in both Arizona and Florida and delaying the start of the regular season at least two weeks.

"This is a weird one," manager Bud Black said Thursday afternoon in Scottsdale. "This is wild. I can't put it into words."

Details on club activities and a reworked regular season schedule will be forthcoming.

Minor League Baseball has also announced a delay to the start of its season.

The Rockies will take Friday off and then hold optional player workouts at Salt River Fields on Saturday and Sunday before deciding what the next steps will be.

Rockies reliever Scott Oberg talked about the delay and how that might impact the players and the team.

Rockies manager Bud Black spoke on Thursday afternoon.

Before the official announcement from MLB Thursday, Rockies pitcher Jon Gray spoke with reporters. He threw a simulated innings in the batting cage (rain forced players inside) and also about the possibility that COVID-19 could alter the MLB schedule.
