The Fax Partnership purchased The Westerner and Sand and Sage motels located at 8405 and 8415 E. Colfax to turn the motels into affordable housing.
“We will be converting them to non-congregate shelter in early 2023,” said Monica Martinez, Executive Director of the The Fax partnership.
For the next six years, the motels will serve people experiencing and recovering from homelessness before they are redeveloped into about 120 affordable housing units.
The redevelopment won’t happen until 2028 because of a billboard on the property with a lease that doesn’t end until then.
