Organizers of an effort to recall Governor Jared Polis did not turn in any signatures to the Secretary of State's office on Friday, the deadline for getting the issue on the state ballot. The organizers needed more than 631,000 valid signatures to makea recall happen. Reports indicated they had gathered less than half that amount..
Governor Polis issued a statement saying, "Now that this sideshow is over, I will continue to focus my attention on building our bipartisan success with kindergarten and health care."
Polis noted there have been several recalls launched against state lawmakers and said recalls should not be used for partisan gamesmanship.
