RTD chose April Fool's Day to announce that the long awaited G-Line will open later this month on April 26th. General Manager Dave Genova assuring the public that "We're not Fooling."
The 11.2 mile route will feature commuter rail trains and take people from the westernmost station in Wheat Ridge to Union station in just 25 minutes. The one-way fare will be $3.00. During peak hours, trains will run every 15 minutes. The G-Line will operate between 4 a.m. and 12:30 a.m..
Opening Day rides will be free. RTD expects 9,000 passengers trips a day on the G-Line during the first year of operation. By 2035 the passenger load is projected to 12,900 a day.
