Representatives from Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming will meet Wednesday in Las Vegas to discuss an agreement on Colorado River water rationing in the face of an ongoing drought.
Fearing Arizona will be the hardest hit, officials from that state have held up the sharing agreement.
So far, the Bureau of Reclamation has been willing to wait on an agreement, rather than impose restrictions. Commissioner Brenda Burman is set to speak to representatives attending the Colorado River Water Users Association Conference on Thursday.
40 million people use water from the Colorado River, but supply is shrinking thanks to a 19 year drought.
