Ride services cost twice as much as owning a car

There are a lot of good reasons to regularly use ride-hailing services such as Lyft and Uber, but Triple A Colorado says you're not going to save money if you use them as your primary mode of transportation. Spokesman Skyler McKinley says they did an analysis and found that relying on ride-hailing services costs $20,118 annually - more than twice the cost of owning a personal vehicle, even when factoring in the costs of fuel, insurance, parking and the vehicle itself.  He says ride-hailing services are still good for things like skipping the parking headaches downtown and avoiding driving impaired.  But, he says for everything else, "the car is still king."
