Senator Cory Gardner presented the Congressional Badge of Bravery to Deputy Teri Javes from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office. The Badge is awarded to individuals who exhibit extraordinary bravery while protecting the lives of others, without regard for their own personal safety. On September 10, 2016, Deputy Javes engaged an armed man walking down Highway 287 with a handgun. While under fire, investigators say Deputy Javes was able to subdue the subject and neutralize the dangerous situation. Senator Gardner said "Deputy Javes is a hero and it was an honor to have the opportunity to present her with the Congressional Badge of Bravery."
