Catholic Charities’ School Supply Drive is back!
As the new school year approaches, the National Retail Federation estimated families will spend an average of $684 on needed back-to-school supplies and clothing for their children—an amount many low-income families can’t afford. Catholic Charities’ annual School Supply Drive is back to help bridge the gap between what families can afford and what students need. Donations go a long way in helping 1,100 children experiencing homelessness and poverty in the Denver metro area who are served by Catholic Charities.“It makes a huge difference,” said Mary Gold, principal of Guardian Angels School, a Denver school where almost all of its 187 students qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program. “I don’t know what we would do without these groups helping us. These families don’t have that kind of discretionary funding.” Over the weekend August 4-5, supplies may be dropped off at 16 locations in the Denver Metro area.
Where: 6240 Smith Road in Denver, or one of 15 locations in the Denver area. Donations maybe made online to go toward the purchase of supplies.
When: Saturday- Sunday, August 4-5
