The Colorado Department of Transportation has completed it's environmental assessment - a requirement before construction on the I-25 "gap" project can begin.
"We anticipate being able to break ground on the project before Labor Day," C-DOT spokesperson Tamara Rollison said. "Now that we have the environmental work done and the funding identified, we are ready to begin."
The 350-million dollar plan calls for an express toll lane in each direction on the 18-mile stretch of highway between Monument and Castle Rock. C-DOT says the project will take more than two years.
