The Broncos went to an executive from another pro sports league in search of better planning for the team. A report by "The Athletic" says team higher-ups met with former Philadelphia 76rs GM Sam Hinkie this off-season. The meeting was to review the franchise's front office processes. Hinkie is known as an analytics guru. He presided over losing seasons with the Sixers while the team stockpiled young talent like Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. The report says Denver GM John Elway and other front office executives enlisted Hinkie to help them use data in player evaluation, salary cap and contract decisions, and other long-term planning.
