It's a library, but not where you check out books--instead, people check out bicycles. The Bike Library is up and operating in the Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods north of I-70 in Denver. The goal is to combat the congestion that will come with years of re-construction of I-70. CDOT plans to tear down the interstate viaduct that runs above the neighborhoods, and drop the interstate below ground level. Focus Points tells KCNC neighbors are going to have to make adjustments. A spokeswoman says riding a bike in the area can be much easier than driving. The Bike Library costs 20 dollars a year, and people can check out any of a number of different types of bikes for 48 hours at a time.
