A fire burning in Mesa County has I-70 shut down in both directions west of Grand Junction. It is the Skipper Island fire that started yesterday and has been burning out of control ever since. At last count it had burned over 20 acres, but has since spread. Megan Terlecky with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office says that with a shift in the winds today, the fire jumped over the interstate. Terlecky also says that firefighters are drawing water from the Colorado River to held fight the flames.
