Albus Brooks says Cancer has Returned

Denver City Council President  Albus Brooks says he will have surgery early next month to removed a grape-sized tumor. Nearly two years ago, Brooks was diagnosed with a rare form of skeletal cancer called chondrosarcoma. At that time he had a 15-pound tumor, located near his pelvis, removed.  Nearly two years later, Brooks revealed via Twitter that the new tumor was found during an exam earlier this month.

Brooks says he will have surgery during the first week of May and expects it will take him two weeks to recover.  In the meantime, he plans to go ahead with plans to speak at Cancer-Con, an event for young adult cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.  Brooks say his message will be one of hope and resilience.
