A ban on so-called "conversion therapy" for minors is on its way to the state House floor. The bill passed committee yesterday. The practice is aimed at changing a person's sexual orientation or suppressing their gender identity. The American Psychological Association says there's no evidence to support the therapy actually works, and also adds that it can have harmful effects on the client. The ban would apply to state-licensed and registered mental health care providers. Previous attempts at such a measure have failed in the last three legislative sessions.
