Alterra Mountain Company, the operator of Winter Park, plans to spend more than $28-million on upgrades for the ski area. $16-million will be spent on a new ten-person gondola system that will replace the Zephyr Express. The new gondola will reduce wait times by 15-minutes during the peak ski season. The company also plans to upgrade its snow making equipment which should help Winter Park get an earlier start on the 2018-19 ski season.
