A Texas college has fired its baseball coach for an email over Colorado's pot law.
Texas Wesleyan University announced they'd relieved Mike Jeffcoat of duties after he sent an email to a recruit saying he wasn't wanted. Jeffcoat's email also said players from Colorado had trouble passing the school's drug test, so they no longer recruited in the state.
The university says Jeffcoat's comments were discriminatory and do not reflect their values. Jeffcoat was already under investigation by the school on a possible NAIA rules violation. Texas Wesleyan says the violation had to do with player eligibility, but declined further comment.
Jeffcoat had been with the school since 2002. He pitched in Major League Baseball for ten seasons with the Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians, San Francisco Giants, and Florida Marlins.
