Affordable Housing Measure Passes City Council

Denver's City Council is approving a deal to let contractors build higher in exchange for making affordable housing more available in the city.  The measure passed last night gives companies several options, from building more affordable housing themselves to paying a fee to help fund lower-cost options.  The trade-off will allow contractors to construct buildings that are up to 16 stories taller than what is currently allowed in the River North area.  The measure passed 11-to-1.
