Sun glare is a real problem on Eastbound I-70 near Floyd Hill. An accident there today forced a safety closure of the interstate. C-DOT's Bob Wilson says beginning in November and continuing through early February, the sun's angle, in combination with the hill and the highway's configuration, can create a blinding sun glare for drivers. This is of greatest concern as drivers head eastbound up Floyd Hill between mile markers 244 to 247, which is east of Idaho Springs. The glare occurs from about 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. It's especially severe between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. To help with the problem, C-DOT recommends keeping your car windows clean, wearing sunglasses and slowing down gradually when you have trouble seeing because of the sun.
