San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel has requested a trade! There are many layers to this discussion including reports about his unhappiness with his role and wanting to be paid as one of the highest at his position. After watching Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams force trades this offseason and subsequently sign record breaking contracts, it was only a matter of time before another top receiver followed suit. Should the Broncos be involved with a trade for Samuel? What will the asking price be for Samuel? The 49ers are much like the Broncos where they don't have a 1st round pick and are slated to make their first pick at 61st overall in the 2nd round (remarkably, they also have two 3rd round picks like the Broncos).
What would be considered a "mistake" by the Broncos in the draft? Our good friend Sayre Bedinger wrote an article detailing what would be mistakes by George Paton in the upcoming draft. It's an interesting discussion since most times "mistakes" in the draft are either categorized as significant reaches on positions/players or undetermined until years later when a player becomes a "bust". Most other debates on mistakes in the draft are generally considered subjective, at best, but Sayre made some great points about where those talking points could show up if Paton made any of these moves.
Pro Football Focus' George Chahrouri joins the show to discuss the reports on Deebo Samuel and how he views college production relative to what we can expect from prospects at the pro level.
Should the Broncos look to get back into the 1st round? Nick Kosmider, another friend of the show, wrote a fun article in The Athletic detailing the cost associated with such a dramatic jump for the Broncos and the times George Paton was part of such moves with the Vikings. It seems extremely unlikely, but if a player the Broncos see as an elite prospect somehow slides to the back end of the 1st round, should it be a strong consideration? The funny part of this is that such a move would fall into the category of Bedinger's "mistakes" but it's the kind of debate we expect the Broncos front office to have on draft night.
Ben's Big Board of Tight Ends...Trey McBride, Greg Dulcich, Cade Otton, Jelani Woods, Daniel Bellinger are some of the players expected to go on Day 2 and beyond.
DNVR's Andrew Mason joins the show to break down what he would like to see the Broncos accomplish during the NFL Draft and, as someone who worked at the Broncos facility for years, how the energy of the building will impact the team's production this season.
NFL Six Pack returns where we discuss how the 49ers will handle the Deebo Samuel trade, Jarvis Landry visiting the Saints, Tua Tagovailoa not feeling the pressure and the latest intel on the 1st round of the NFL Draft!
