I HATE IT WHEN MY NAGGING FEELING IS RIGHT And my nagging feeling is that Colorado is too far gone. Last night's election results confirmed that fear. Progressives won school boards, the Aurora City Council, raised debt levels crazy high, and finally squeaked in the progressive income tax. Now my nagging feeling is we are so screwed. A whopping 35% of voters turned out, which is shameful but on brand for today's lazy Americans who can't be bothered to pay attention. If you're in the 65% who didn't vote, shame on you. For real. SHAME ON YOU. Find all the results here. Last night was an annihilation for conservatives. Denver Public Schools replaced two incumbents with two new members who seem to share their exact same political ideology so I'm not sure why that happened. Douglas County now has a board made up of teachers and school employees most of whom indicated to the union they would be open to bringing back a Collective Bargaining Agreement. At least some of them do have some good ideas on how to actually help students succeed in the district. The conservative candidates in that race leaned on social issues like keeping boys out of girls sports, which I'm hoping is a wake up call for Republicans who need to realize people don't care as much about that stuff as we do. Lots to learn here, and there will be plenty to fix in many of these districts by the next races.

DEMOCRATS WIN VIRGINIA AND NEW JERSEY'S GOVERNORS RACES And we have an avowed socialist as the mayor of the city that represents Capitalism to the rest of the world. I can't wait to see the mass exodus out of the city in the next few years. You get what you deserve. That's honestly how I feel.
LAUREN BOEBERT'S UNNECESSARY AND STUPID HALLOWEEN COSTUME I said on the air recently that I was impressed with Rep. Lauren Boebert's pivot away from controversy and the way she had leaned in hard on the issues of the 4th Congressional District and was doing some good stuff. So I genuinely don't understand her thinking with this Halloween costume.
Just in case you didn't get it, her alleged boyfriend was dressed as an ICE agent.
I'm sure many of you think this is hilarious, and if she were college student at a frat party, I might agree. But she's not. She's a member of Congress who simply should know better. She's going to lose her next race. There are a couple of VERY strong Democrats challenging her that can win Douglas County. Just when I think the opposition may run out of ammunition to run against her, she walks around with a platter of bullets. WTF, people. GROW THE F UP. Many on social media are dismissing that it's racist, but it's absolutely unnecessarily offensive and shows a complete lack of judgement on her part. Again. The Democrats are already in a lather and this 100% will be part of campaign ads against her.
LITTLETON SAYS NO THANK YOU TO HIGHER DENSITY And we'll see how this new voter approved initiative holds up against the power of the State trying to blame everything but themselves for the sky high cost of housing. Read an editorial about it here.
ABOUT THE SHUTDOWN Some stuff is percolating since the Democrats had a great election cycle. Some Dems who are retiring are trying to convince other Dem Senators (most of whom likely won't be up for re election anytime soon) to accept a deal to re open the government. But there is a new issue now, and that is just how long the new Continuing Resolution will be, as the one they were supposed to be voting on would end November 21st. The Republicans are fighting about that now.
NO, THE RIGHT DOES NOT NEED PEOPLE LIKE NICK FUENTES If you had told me a few years ago that the Republican party would be dabbling into Holocaust denial and white supremacy I would have laughed it off as another stupid attack from the Left. But here we are. Kevin Roberts, the "leader" of the Heritage Foundation, put the final nail in the coffin of that once storied organization when he rushed to the defense of the softball, slobbering interview Tucker Carlson did with white supremacist and anti-Semite Nick Fuentes. What a slime bag that guy is. Tucker pressed him on NOTHING and it was truly an embarrassment (in full disclosure I could not stomach watching the entire thing and dipped out after about 20 minutes). Roberts, who has politicized Heritage in ways that I find repulsive, had this say about it:
I despise this man. If Tucker had done any of the things he espouses here, like pushing back on Fuentes' idiocy, maybe Roberts would have some credibility. Heritage used to be a wealth of robust discussion on conservative ideals, and now it's a hotbed of political hackery. You can read about it here. This is the same as platforming the vile David Duke back in the day. I'm going to say it. I'd rather lose without people like Fuentes than risk someone thinking because they are "on my side" I agree with anything they've said. These vile people deserve no open platform to spew their garbage. I have worked with Heritage in the past to create Neighborhood chapters for them, and I am revolted by what they have become. I'm not the only one. Read more here about civil war on the right between rational, thinking people and scumbags who cuddle up to Anti-Semites. I'm here for the battle.
IF THE SUN DOESN'T CREATE GLOBAL WARMING Why would blocking it lower the global temperature? That is what's being proposed by climate geoengineers looking to stop the global temperature rise. This is just stupid. It's time to for us to redirect all of our time and energy MITIGATING the temperature rise, not trying to control the weather, which is the ultimate act of hubris. Read more here. And for the record, blocking the sun, which is the bringer of life, is just a dumb, dumb idea.
THE MOTIVE REMAINS A MYSTERY A man yelling "Allahu Akbar" ran over a bunch of people in France. The motive remains a mystery.
THE MAMDANI EFFECT IS A REAL ESTATE BOOM In the suburbs of New York City that is, as wealthy folks who can afford to uproot and move out are doing so in droves. Home sales in the closest suburbs are skyrocketing. Perhaps they should have spent some time finding a better candidate?
AMAZON MAKES THANKSGIVING SUPER AFFORDABLE As have other grocery store chains who are bundling a Thanksgiving Dinner for families. Amazon has rolled out a $25 Thanksgiving dinner, complete with the fixings and sides for four people. Walmart has a package that feeds ten for $40! Find them all here. I wonder if we can order these and have them sent to food banks?
DON'T LET DOCTORS DISMISS MENOPAUSE SYMPTOMS I don't know about you guys, but sometimes doctors are super frustrating. For 25 years I kept asking doctors to do an xray to see if my legs were a different length. They all told me I was probably just misaligned or some such crap. I FINALLY asked Regen Revolution to do it and guess what? I was right and that leg lengthy difference had caused a TON of problems with my hips and knees that could have been avoided if the dang doctors just listened to me. So when I saw this story about Colorado doctors dismissing the signs of perimenopause and menopause I didn't doubt it. Always be your own best advocate! If you KNOW something isn't right, demand answers.
PLEASE GIVE INPUT ON PENA BOULEVARD Take the survey here, and in the box at the bottom, please tell them to just WIDEN PENA BOULEVARD. The stupid crap they are proposing isn't going to fix anything. Be nice, but tell them to widen the stupid road.
YOUNG PEOPLE ARE LYING ABOUT THEIR FINANCIAL STATUS In the least surprising story of the year a LOT of younger adults are admitting they are lying about their financial position when dating. Of course they are. People have been lying about their stature since the beginning of time to get a mate. But now there seems to be the impression that if you aren't a multimillionaire by 25 you aren't a catch. I want to point out that Mackenzie Bezos married Jeff when he didn't have a pot to pee in and they started Amazon in their garage. Just saying. Credit scores matter, but it's more important to be on the same page on SPENDING and SAVING with your partner. That is what will make or break your relationship, and going into debt to impress someone is a bad bad choice.
