1/23/25 Blog: Eggs Are Back At The Gold Dome

HOW MUCH IS GREEN ENERGY REALLY COSTING US? I had this column by Amy Oliver Cooke on the blog earlier this week but wanted to bring Amy on the show to talk about it because it's time to really talk about what green energy is going to cost us. It's WAY, WAY more than the Governor wants us to believe and some of the numbers are in to prove that. Amy joins me at 1 to talk about what we are actually in for when it comes to green energy and it's not good and it's super expensive!

COMPLETE COLORADO GOT A MAKEOVER! And I use this site EVERY DAY to see what's happening around the state. They've dolled themselves up, check it out here.

REP RYAN GONZALEZ WANTS TO MAKE EGGS GREAT AGAIN By repealing the cage free law Democrats passed some time ago that jacked up the price of eggs. Even if they repeal it, I'm still going to buy my pasture raised eggs but that would just leave more very affordable eggs for people who can't afford the luxury of eggs farmed that way. I've got him on the show today at 2:30 to talk about it.

WE NEED CLARIFICATION FROM COLORADO DEMOCRATS ON IMMIGRATION We've already seen Mayor Mike Johnston walk back his bravado about meeting federal authorities at Denver's border with 50,000 Highlands moms (which really was so silly to begin with) and now he's further walking back his tough talk on immigration, but what are we really doing here? We're either fighting federal law, of which we already know is the law of the land when it comes to immigration, or we're complying with federal law. I would say a smarter move here would be to actively work with feds to go after the criminal element we know is here in the form of Tren de Aragua and then once that is done see what happens next. Republican lawmakers are asking the Governor for clarification on what HE meant in his State of the State address when it comes to immigration. Denver Public Schools is providing guidance so parents can avoid being caught up in FOIA requests for directories, actively working to subvert immigration law. There doesn't seem to be a coherent strategy in Colorado right now when it comes to deporting people who should not be here. In the meantime, the Trump Administration is already putting out memos about their immigration strategy and threatening federal attorneys who refuse to enforce the law with jail time. These comments by Tom Homan should let Colorado Democrats know what's at stake:

“Sanctuary cities are going to get exactly what they don’t want,” White House border czar Tom Homan told Fox News on Wednesday. “More agents in the communities, more people arrested, collateral arrests. If that’s the game they want to play? Game on.”

Game on, indeed.

WILL POLIS STOP THE GREAT UNION GIVEAWAY? Democrats are trying to solve a "problem" that only exists for unions who want to take money from people who don't want to join them. This editorial wonders if the Governor, who was a businessman before he was a politician, will veto this law that will create even more economic headwinds for Colorado businesses.

TRUMP IS SENDING TROOPS TO THE BORDER And I'm okay with this. Read more here.

THE FAILED PROMISE OF ESG INVESTING someone mentioned this video when I was talking about ESG investing and it's worth a watch. The world is healing.

IS PERA INVESTED IN ESG? If so, it may be part of the problem that it is headed for more problems. The real issue with PERA is that it is a Defined Benefit Plan rather than a 401K style plan with defined contributions. Of course this won't change because state workers have to keep paying into THIS system to fulfill the idiotic promises made to the thousands of state workers who depend on it. Read this to see what cuts might be coming.

HICK AND BENNET VOTE AGAINST THE LAKEN RILEY ACT And this story points out that they are on the wrong side of the voters, who moved right most places because people are tired of unfettered illegal immigration that has lead the deaths of too many Americans. Read more here.

THIS CBI CASE IS AN ABSOLUTE DUMPSTER FIRE A forensic scientists at the Colorado Bureau of Investigations has thrown her department into chaos after it was discovered she had lied, erased data and more which has called ALL her work on over a THOUSAND cases into question. From the Denver Gazette:

The former forensic DNA analyst has been at the center of a massive state scandal after it was disclosed in November 2023 that the once revered scientist had deleted data, skipped steps and manipulated DNA evidence in more than 1,000 instances over her nearly three-decade career.

She's now facing felony charges but ALL her work has to be redone on these cases, which has created a massive backlog in the forensics department. If I were in charge, I'd ask the Legislature for a chunk of money to bring in forensics investigators from other places to bust through this mess. I hope she goes to jail for a long time. This is already making problems for prosecutions in Douglas County and I suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg.

MORE JENA GRISWOLD MALFEASANCE This time in the form of a campaign finance report allegation that she used her current funds on her not-quite-announced run for Governor. Of COURSE she's running for Governor, but she can't spend money doing that until she's officially announced. But don't let the law get in the way of the precious Jena. She's above that, as we've seen already numerous times.

A BILL FILED IN SEARCH OF A PROBLEM Did you know we have Jim Crow laws in Colorado? That black and brown people have to pay a poll tax to cast a ballot? JK, we totally don't. However, Democrats here seem to think we do as they've filed a bill that surely was written back in the 1920s when the KKK was active in Colorado. This column points out how silly this virtue signaling waste of time and space really is.

ADVICE FROM A SELF MADE MILLIONAIRE

IT'S TIME TO SPEND TRANSPORTATION DOLLARS ON FIXING OUR DAMN ROADS This article on how much our garbage roads cost us in repairs and gas every year is infuriating. We've got CDOT leadership that doesn't care about fixing the damn roads as they keep finding other things to spend that money on. This is a very clear attack point for Republicans.

RETURN TO OFFICE IS COMING FULL FORCE One of the things that Trump did that I LOVE is demand the federal workforce return to the office full time immediately. That seems to have empowered all kinds of businesses to make the same choice. There is a lot of chatter on LinkedIn about it, check it here.

OUR LATEST JAMES BEARD NOMINEES! and two of them are down in Parker so I'm excited about that. Read them all here.

THE COLORADO SYMPHONY IS GOING BROADWAY And will be performing a bunch of Broadway songs in an upcoming concert, check it here.

THE OSCAR NOMINEES ARE OUT and you can find them here.

ADHD SEEMS TO REDUCE LIFESPAN This is disheartening, but here we are.

WHINE AWAY, YOUR CLEARANCE IS GONE John Brennan, who is the worst kind of government spook, is whining about losing his security clearance. Too bad, I don't care.

TRUMP LEFT NO WIGGLE ROOM FOR DEI In his order placing all DEI employees to be laid off pending their release from employment, Trump showed how much he's learned about government. He's not waiting for bureaucrats to find a way around it he's cutting them off at the knees. Check this out:

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) directed agencies to place DEI office staffers on paid leave, take down all public DEI-focused webpages and cancel any DEI-related training by 5pm EST on Wednesday (10pm GMT).
The memo also encouraged employees at federal agencies to inform on those attempting to disguise DEI programmes.
Federal department and agency bosses are required to ask “employees if they know of any efforts to disguise these [DEI] programmes by using coded or imprecise language”.
The memo, issued on Tuesday, included a template email for bosses to send to employees, which asks them to report to OPM if they are “aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 (Election Day) to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies”.

He won't get fooled again. He didn't just stop at government though, he's instructing his people to go after PRIVATE business and non-profits of a certain size that still maintain affirmative action and DEI programs. Read this from Vox:

Every federal agency, the order went on, must send a recommendation to the attorney general of up to nine potential investigations of corporations, large nonprofits, foundations with assets of $500 million or more, higher education institutions with endowments of $1 billion or more, or bar and medical associations. All this, the order said, was meant to “encourage the private sector to end illegal discrimination and preferences, including DEI.”

I love everything about this. We are best when we are a meritocracy and I have faith that diversity is possible with those high standards. To think otherwise is simply racist.

OH LOOK, A DUDE SET MORE WOMEN'S SPORTS RECORD Enough with this. Enough.

WWHAT THE BIDEN ADMIN DID TO THE J6ERS WAS AWFUL And don't get me wrong, I know people did some bad stuff but many didn't. Read this to understand just how egregious these prosecutions and the show trials were. It's horrifying. Watch this to find out what the government is capable of against citizens it disagrees with.

COLORADO IS RUNNING OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY FOR ILLEGAL HEALTHCARE And that headline is not hyperbole. You may not even realize that you pay a fee (JK, it's a tax) on your health insurance premiums that is used to pay for the healthcare costs of people here illegally. That fund also helps shore up premiums in the mountain towns where cost and access make it very unaffordable. It's simply not reasonable to expect business owners to accept higher taxes to pay for care for illegal immigrants but there will be a shortfall next year and for years ahead because we've run out of other taxpayer's dollars from the feds.

AN EASY PRIMER ON HOW TO DEAL WITH ANTIFA WHEN THEY SHOW UP IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD I laughed so hard when I saw this.
