Colorado is home to stunning scenery, cool small towns, unique hidden gems and even one of the best new restaurants in America.
New restaurants pop up all over the country ever year, and while some don't always stand the test of time, others become a household name. To celebrate all the amazing eateries that have opened throughout the year, Yelp compiled a list of 25 of the "best new restaurants of 2024," from a Mediterranean establishment in New York and a unique fusion joint in Kentucky to an elegant sushi spot in California and a chic oyster bar in Texas.
One restaurant in Colorado found a spot on the list. Kawa Ni in Denver ranked No. 11 overall, earning praise for its unique twists on Japanese cuisine. Kawa Ni is located at 1900 W. 32nd Avenue.
Here's what the site had to say about this new must-try establishment:
"A decade after James Beard-nominated chef Bill Taibe opened the first iteration of Kawa Ni in Westport, Connecticut, the new Denver outpost is already Michelin-recommended. Housed in a repurposed red-brick firehouse, the unorthodox Japanese-style pub is made to engage the senses, Bill says. 'The food offers a fun, slightly Americanized take on Japanese izakaya cuisine, giving us the freedom to create without boundaries,' he explains. That means you'll see slightly twisted versions of classics, like 'soft and fluffy' bao buns filled with pickled tofu and dan dan noodles with spicy lamb. The 'addictive' shaved broccoli salad with ham and burnt honey is the most popular dish on the menu, but Chef Bill says he's particularly proud of the temaki, seaweed cones filled with scallops, wasabi peas, and more."
