A NEW BOOK TO CRY OVER But only because noted psychiatrist Judith Orloff has a new book out called The Genius of Empathy:Practical Skills to Heal Your Sensitive Self, Your Relationships, and the World. In it, she is drawing on insights from neuroscience, psychology, and energy medicine, Dr. Orloff shows us how to access our sensitivities, soothe our nervous system, and stop absorbing the emotions of others. She begins with the magic of empathy to find greater self-love and healing–including from trauma. Subsequent chapters apply empathy to our relationships, communities, and the world. Exploring each chapter’s practices, you’ll learn the art of empathic listening, how to stop overthinking, and the importance of setting healthy boundaries and loving detachment to prevent overwhelm, burnout, and more. Find out more about Dr. Orloff here, she joins me at 1pm to discuss.
VALDAMAR ARCHULETA IS MAKING WAVES IN DISTRICT 1 As he runs against a long entrenched incumbent who needs to go. He had a nice write up by The Politics Watcher here. He just faced off with Degette this weekend and you should watch it.
Vald joins me at 2:30 to talk about the race and getting out the vote.
DONALD TRUMP'S MCDONALD'S SHIFT WAS AMAZING And as far as politicking goes this one was an A+++ event. David Strom writes about how social media BLEW UP this weekend with images of Donald Trump working the window at a Pennsylvania McDonald's and being charming and warm to the pre selected folks who got to order food at the drive thru. It really was a stroke of genius, but the reason it worked is Trump, unlike many other politicians who do such stunts, looked like a natural as he worked the fries and the windows. He seemed appreciative of the workers who actually did the work. He was laughing and smiling and seemed perfectly at home. Check out this one video on TikTok:
Strom goes on to talk about Kamala tossing a Christian out of a rally after skipping a Catholic dinner every candidate had been to before, and how she showed sympathy to a Pro-Hamas protester at another event. She's cratering very hard but that's what happens when you run on other people's principles. It's hard to keep up. Oh, and McDonalds gave a master class on how to manage politics as a corporation with this statement.
ABOUT THOSE INCESSANT ADS FOR THE 8TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT Thanks to Denver 7 for fact checking them. You won't be surprised to know they lie about a lot of stuff. Read it here. This as a TON of money is flowing in from out of state for the race.
VOTE NO ON RETAINING JUDGES And I did so in my ballot guide and on my ballot, but Jon Caldara explains why they all need to go here.
LOTS OF SCARE TACTICS ON PROP 131 Like this one that says if it passes it will mean the end of the super tiny caucuses where neighbors get together to discuss issues and candidates face to face. When I went to my caucus there were FOUR of us who attended. FOUR. Out of my entire precinct. Hardly seems like the citizenry would miss it. I love this line though:
Right now, the candidate with the most votes wins the general election, regardless of the percentage they win. That changes under the new system, which requires the winning candidate to have 50% of the vote.
The HORROR! Requiring someone to get a majority of voter support before they win sounds AWFUL. Not really and they know it. They would rather have someone with 29% of the vote win? What percentage of Coloradans currently participate in the caucus system? It's so bad that candidates now routinely gather signatures to avoid the mean girl and guys who have taken over many precincts in service to Dave Williams and his ilk. Caucuses had their time in the sun when people weren't working every minute of every day and trying to raise a family but these days they are more a burden than a privilege. It's time to move on. Here former Secretary of State Wayne Williams says voters are not smart enough for ranked choice voting. I disagree. Though he does rightfully point out some of the issues for voters, I believe they can be mitigated with plenty of work before the first ballot gets mailed. Also note that the people writing all these columns are STAUNCH partisans who want to protect the power of the two party system that has given us Democrat control of Colorado completely since 2019. Doesn't seem that it's working very well right now, does it?
THE CIVIL RIGHTS COMMISSION NEEDS TO GO Colorado's Civil Rights Commission has been embarrassed by the Supreme Court because of their anti-religion stances while attacking a cake maker who didn't want to make a gay wedding cake. As they are all Denver liberals on the commission this should surprise no one, and this editorial makes the case that it's time to decommission the Civil Rights Commission and I agree wholeheartedly.
DID WE LEAK ISRAEL'S WAR PLANS? That is the question being investigated by the incompetent Biden-Harris administration after documents pertaining to Israel's war plans were leaded on Telegram. No one seems to know if they were leaked or hacked but they seem to be authentic. If I'm Israel I give the US fake plans that I want them to leak from now on. Just saying.
60 MINUTES RESPONDS WITH NUH-UH Rather than releasing the transcript of the interview they did with Kamala Harris (as they did with their interview with President Donald Trump in 2020) 60 Minutes released a statement that essentially said they didn't do what Trump accused them of doing, which is editing out a rambling nonsensical answer on Israel with a more succinct one. They say they used a shorter part of the answer to the question instead. Okay, release the transcripts and let us decide then.
HOLY HELL WE EAT A LOT OF SUGAR This is SHOCKING. The average American eats a whopping 80 POUNDS of sugar ANNUALLY. WTF??? No wonder we're all fat! Read this for more, but it's sugary beverages that are killing us, and I mean that literally. DRINK WATER. Just drink water, people.
IT'S TIME TO STOP LEAVING BOYS BEHIND I get why we do stuff like this event designed to bring girls to the STEM field. Traditionally boys have been far more interested in those fields than girls so we needed to up the game. However, it's time to stop with girls only events. Boys are falling behind in college attendance and life, and this sole focus on girls is a part of the problem.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, INTERNET So I saw a X post and decided to answer it. Do you get it?
IT'S LOW TIRE PRESSURE SEASON, EREBODY! And this article explains why that stupid light is going to be on most of the winter.
HOW MUCH WILL YOUR LAST BIG TABOR REFUND BE? I say the last one because the Democratic Legislature has decided to take your TABOR refunds and give them to groups they believe deserve your money more than you. Find out how much you're getting this year because it will be the last one this size regardless of how much Colorado takes in.
LOOKING FOR A GOOD JOB IN DENVER THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A COLLEGE DEGREE? You can find 50 of them here, though it is a slideshow, which I hate.
IT'S TIME TO CHANGE THE SQUATTER LAWS Read this story about an elderly man whose home has been invaded and taken over by a homeless woman who has moved her 15 year old son and boyfriend and taken over and tell me how squatter laws are out of control. I'm not sure how these laws took hold so well, but this needs to be curbed RIGHT NOW. However I wonder if Democrats even care? Is there any attorney who can help these people at a reduced cost? Anyone?
DUMB MISTAKES PEOPLE VOW TO NOT MAKE AGAIN Some of these are things I have done in my life but will never do again. I'll let you read them here to guess which ones.

NO, YOU'RE NOT IMAGINING A MIGRANT CRIME SPREE This story about how many illegal immigrants are committing crimes is very illuminating. Just check this part out:
To overcome the data deficit, the Federation for American Immigration Reform considered statistics from the federal State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, which enables states to get reimbursed by Washington for the cost of incarcerating illegals. To be paid, states must verify that prisoners are illegal immigrants and file detailed reports to the feds. Examining the SCAAP data for ten states with the highest illegal-alien populations, the FAIR study found that, on average, illegals were more than twice as likely to be in prison in California, compared with other state residents; they were twice as likely to be in prison in New York, too; in New Jersey, they were nearly four times as likely, and in Arizona, nearly five times. Among the states studied, Texas showed the smallest difference between legal residents and illegal immigrants in rates—probably, the FAIR authors theorized, thanks to tougher border enforcement, which deters immigrant criminals from remaining in the state.
The arrest of eight Tajikistan nationals with terrorist ties earlier this year exposes the porousness of U.S. borders. American immigration officials had supposedly vetted the accused men, who were then released into the U.S.; their terror links emerged only later, thanks to the U.S. intelligence services’ monitoring of ISIS communications. Such vulnerability led FBI director Christopher Wray recently to warn of “dangerous individuals” illegally getting into America, part of the “threats that emanate from the border,” which also include extensive drug smuggling.
Read the rest here, but it won't make you feel any better. The sad fact is that every person victimized by an illegal immigrant is a person who never should have met that individual in the first place. They should have never been here in the first place.
AND NOW A BUNCH OF CORNY HALLOWEEN JOKES Because why not? Find them here.
