10/9/24 Blog: My Mouse Broke Today And Other First World Problems

I'M GUESSING WE'LL CHAT ABOUT HURRICANE MILTON When we do Weather Wednesday with Fox 31 Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser at 12:30 but get your weather questions ready.

WHY DOES HOLLYWOOD HATE WHITE PEOPLE? Of course I'm being sarcastic when I say that but our friend Christian Toto reminds us here that when Hollywood REALLY cares they spring into action but they haven't sprung much for hurricane victims right now. He joins me at 1 to discuss.

WE ARE PAYING FOR ANTI-OIL AND GAS LOBBYING This column by Jon Caldara just burned me up to quote my late math teacher Nancy Hunter. He writes here about how taxpayer dollars are funneled to anti-oil and gas groups who then lobby against affordable and reliable energy. Jon is on at 2:30 to chat about it.

MY VOTER GUIDE IS OUT And you can find it here. You can find Ross's here.

WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING AT CBS Credit to The Free Press for breaking the story of a CBS Mornings co-anchor being hung out to dry by management for doing a challenging interview with author and racist Ta-Nehisi Coates. He was excoriated for being tough. Read more about that here. Now a meeting that CBS had to yell at everyone for asking tough questions has been leaked to The Free Press and apparently in this meeting CBS "journalists" discussed whether or not it was fair to ask if Israel had the right to exist. Note, there was NO editorial meeting about fairness after the dumpster fire of a debate moderation performance by Norah O'Donnell and Margaret Brennan. This story is so crazy. Be sure to listen to the audio from the meetings yourself.

CAN POLITICAL CONSULTANTS STOP TELLING CANDIDATES TO NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS? I like Gabe Evans. I think he would be a great fit for the 8th Congressional District in Congress. Last night there was a debate between him and Rep. Yadira Caraveo, who he is trying to unseat. I have to give Kyle Clark credit for asking tough questions of both of them, but BOTH of them came off as dodging the questions. Watch it below but we have to start demanding candidates just answer the damn questions. https://adflegal.org/press-release/colorado-supreme-court-dismisses-lawsuit-harassing-cake-artist-jack-phillips?sourcecode=11034408_r200

THE LATEST SUIT AGAINST MASTERPIECE CAKES HAS BEEN DISMISSED This time by the Colorado Supreme Court, who I guess is tired of having their decisions overturned by the US Supreme Court. They dismissed the specious lawsuit filed by trans activist attorney trans woman Amber Scardina, who filed suit after trying to get owner Jack Phillips to make a cake celebrating her gender transition. I wish I thought this were the end, but my guess is another wacko trans activist will try something else rather than just letting Phillips live his life the way he wants. Because it's not about acceptance at this point, it's about submission.

AURORA PD IS PREPARING FOR TRUMP'S VISIT And I'm guessing they don't want another attempt on his life here in Aurora. He's going to be at the Gaylord Rockies very close to the airport where he will be landing so I'm hoping this all goes off without a hitch. It seems tickets are still available if you want to go here.

DOUGCO IS IN STAGE 2 FIRE RESTRICTIONS And you know how I am about fire restrictions so if you live in DougCo, read this for what that means and don't be a dumbass.

ANOTHER PEDESTRIAN DEATH This time at Colfax and Chambers. The reason I am sharing this story is to point out the fallacy of all the plans the City of Denver has to make driving miserable in the name of reducing pedestrian deaths. If this man had crossed at a crosswalk he may still be alive, and I bet you that the man was likely impaired when he wandered into the street. It's a sad story, but making driving miserable won't fix this problem.

DENVER IS THE LEAST SAFE CITY IN COLORADO And one of the least safe cities on a new list of safe cities. Out of 182 cities, with Memphis being dead last and the most unsafe, Denver came in at #161. I find it entertaining that Aurora did better than Denver of the Springs, coming in at 115. The safest city is South Burlington, Vermont. But you have to live in Vermont to live there so....

WHAT ARE THE HOTTEST RESTAURANTS IN DENVER? According to Open Table, we've got three that are both recognized nationally and are a hot ticket for reservations and you can find them here.

A COOL NEW CONCEPT IN FARMING This is so freaking cool I'm gonna have Arod get them on the show. A Sedalia based growing operation uses shipping containers to grow about 2.5 acres worth of food, no matter the weather. Read it here, but how can you not wonder if this could solve food insecurity around the world? At least to some extent.

FLUORIDE IN WATER MAKES KIDS DUMBER And this isn't a conspiracy theory anymore. They may have great teeth but a big study just showed what many people have been saying for YEARS, and that is fluoride in our water is toxic to our health. Now the National Institute of Health is recommending it be REMOVED from the water supply. Check this out:

Call your water provider today and ask if they fluorinate your water and if they plan to stop.

THE WEATHER CHANNEL CREATED AN INSANE STORM SURGE GRAPHIC Just check this out

EVEN PORTLAND TIRES OF PROGRESSIVE POLITICS And now they are poised to upend EVERYTHING about their governance as they try to get their city back on track. I think this election is going to be chaotic (19 people running for the newly weakend Mayor's job, with 98 more running for City Council) but maybe, just maybe the lunatics will lose the city will solve it's serious issues with more moderate policies. Read this for more, but I think this is Denver's future if they can't get it together.

AN AFGHAN MAN IS BUSTED FOR PLOTTING ISIS ATTACK ON ELECTION DAY And this guy was part of the mass of unvetted Afghanis brought over by the Biden-Harris administration. I'm glad they caught the guy and the DoJ outlines his planned attack here, but how many others like him walked over the southern border or were flown here by the Biden-Harris team?

KAMALA STILL CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING SHE'D DO DIFFERENT Even though Stephen Colbert lobbed her softball after softball in his interview and gave her a do over from her disastrous answer on The View the same day. Listen to this claptrap.

YOUR BRAIN NEEDS EXERCISE TO WORK PROPERLY This is a super cool study about how the different regions of the brain work together and what external forces have an impact. The short answer is all of them have an impact. Exercise is apparently very important for us too:

One particularly interesting finding was the strong link between heart rate variability – a measure of the heart’s adaptability – and brain connectivity, especially during rest. This suggests that practices that impact our body’s relaxation response, such as stress management techniques, could shape our brain’s wiring even when we’re not actively concentrating on a task.
Physical activity also emerged as a significant factor in brain connectivity. Days with less physical activity were associated with reduced integration between the frontoparietal network – crucial for cognitive control and decision-making – and other brain regions. This implies that being more sedentary might make it harder for different parts of the brain to work together efficiently.

PROFESSIONAL TAG IS CRAZY And I can't stop watching it. Watch below or click here.

ABOUT FEMA FUNDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS As is on brand, left wing media is rushing to tell us that FEMA dollars that should be used for emergencies are being used to support illegal immigrants because the FEMA dollars being used to support illegal immigrants are in a different part of FEMA. Sure, buddy, sure. This is the old "different pockets in the same pair of pants situation" but FEMA is supporting illegal immigrants. How do we know?

Why is this even an issue? Because they keep lying about it.

EVER WONDERED ABOUT GREEN DOT HELMETS? This is a cool explainer on how they work. Watch below or click here.

IRISH KAMALA ENTERS THE CHAT And I have no words for this one.

HOW CORN FLAKES CAME TO BE This is just an interesting little history tidbit I thought you might enjoy because who doesn't like corn flakes?
