9/11/24 Blog: That Did Not Go Well for Trump, Plus 9/11 Remembered

SURE IT WAS ONE AGAINST TWO AT LAST NIGHT'S DEBATE BUT STILL Whoever did Kamala Harris's debate prep did a masterful job. Harris also deserves a ton of credit for sticking to the plan the entire debate, and the plan was to needle Trump on dumb stuff that kept him from talking about substance and it worked like a charm. He seemed petty and histrionic while Harris seemed informed and presidential. She talked about fluffy ideas with no real detail while he defended his rallies and talked about Haitians eating pets, something the Springfield Police Department has denied. The moderators were literally the worst of the modern era but that should have been expected. They came prepared to fact check Trump but ignored lie after lie from Harris. Trump allies are trying to claim victory by calling out the moderators but if you saw it, you know that isn't true. It was a squandered opportunity and Trump has no one to blame but himself. What did you think? We'll get reactions today. This is probably the best succinct take on the debate to hit X last night:

Even with the assist from the moderators Harris didn't convince undecided voters according to Reuters. From the story:

Although the sample size was small, the responses suggested Harris might need to provide more detailed policy proposals to win over voters who have yet to make up their minds.
Five said they found Harris vague during the more than 90-minute debate on how she would improve the U.S. economy and deal with the high cost of living, a top concern for voters.

So people actually want to know how she would govern. That's good because I'd like to know that too.

WEATHER WEDNESDAY TODAY AT 12:30 And we'll have a chance to ask how the three huge fires in Los Angeles is going to affect our air quality plus any other weather questions you may have.

WHO ARE THE REAL DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM? That's the question asked in this column a couple of weeks ago by my guest today at 1:00 Alexander Salter. Economist Alexander Salter disagrees. Salter is a professor of economics at Texas Tech University and a signatory of the Freedom Conservatism Statement of Principles. He is the author of more than 150 academic and popular articles and has authored four books. After the Democrats spent the week of their convention crowing about freedom, he explains what a lie that actually is. Read the column and join me at 1.

HOW ABOUT SOME GOLF FOR VETERANS? The Colorado Veterans Project is out raising money for veteran causes and you can join their upcoming golf tournament if you'd like to join. Brandy Maranian, the Board President, will join me at 2:30 with details but you can sign up here.

IT WAS JUST 23 YEARS AGO THE TOWERS CAME DOWN And this is a great video about what happened this day just in case you forgot.

I'm not going to lie, I miss the days right after when we all felt like Americans instead of something-Americans and political differences were exposed as noise that didn't matter. I sure hope it doesn't take another event like this to bring us back together.

TRANS WOMAN GOES NUTS IN PANERA And starts attacking workers and throwing things at this obviously unhinged person who identifies as Kendall Ross though the name appears to be Isaac according to records. You can see the video if you click the link before, it's age restricted even though it was on the freaking news on Fox 31.

TAYLOR SWIFT ENDORSES KAMALA HARRIS And I genuinely think this has more of an impact than the debate will. Not that Trump was going to win young women but now that Harris has been endorsed by Swift it could actually bring more of them to the polls. I can't wait until she finds out she's "the rich" that Harris keeps talking about taxing to death. She signed it "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady" in an obvious shot at JD Vance. There was no doubt she was going to endorse Harris but I'm sure the campaign would have preferred to have it on another day where the press wasn't already so good.

THE GUY WHO SHOT AT PATROL OFFICERS HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED And he is NOT an illegal immigrant as some have surmised. He was born in California and though he was Hispanic so far there are no known gang ties, he was just a bad dude with a long rap sheet and a death wish apparently.

AURORA GETS NAME CHECKED DURING THE DEBATE And not because of the Food and Wine article on the food scene. It was brought up by Donald Trump while talking about the damage the open border has done and this is exactly why the Mayor and others wanted this story to go away. They should have taken care of it then. Time to show some stones and attack this problem with all the help you can muster. Shove them back into Denver if you must.

WHERE ARE THE DENVER CASH COW RED LIGHT CAMERAS SENDING OUT THE MOST TICKETS? These are the corners you want to be careful at if you're rolling through a red light because the city of Denver will send out a ticket here faster than anywhere else so they can continue to line their pockets with ill gotten gains. Find them here.

DUDE RIPPED THROUGH THE COLORADO TRAIL Which normally takes most people four to six WEEKS to complete in just ten days and change. He walked 51 miles the first day on his self supported hike during monsoon season. This seems kind of impossible but okay.

DASHAUN WATSON GETS SUED AGAIN By another woman who says he sexually assaulted her after she invited him to her apartment four years ago. This lawyer is making a fortune off this guy's bad behavior.

THE COLORADO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SAYS YES TO RANKED CHOICE VOTING And after watching the two choices for President last night I have to believe there is a better way. Read here for why they are a Yes.

ROCKER DAVE GROHL MAKES A CONFESSION And boy howdy did he disappoint some fans by admitting he knocked up a woman who is not his wife and now has a new baby. Again, this proves that when you're rich and famous there are always women available for sex. Just saying.

IT'S LITTLETON RESTAURANT WEEK And Littleton has a really good restaurant scene in my opinion and it's a bit underrated so this might be a good reason to check some stuff out. Find out more here.

COULD A LOW CARB DIET LEAD TO DIABETES? There is FINALLY a lot of study on various diets and their long term effects and this one came to a surprising result. It showed that people who cut the MOST carbs were more likely to end up with diabetes in the long term. Why? Well most of them have higher body mass indexes so that could be part of it, but they could be eating too much fat and overall calories. Calories that you don't expend get turned into fat on your body, no matter what they originally come from. Eating too much fat and protein can lead to weight gain. Read more here.

IS CLIMATE CHANGE KILLING CABERNET? California winemakers long known for big bold Cabernet Sauvignon are ripping out the finicky drought affected grapes for varieties that work better in the heat. This is a BIG DEAL as California wine country was built around Cabernet Sauvignon. The won't replace the varietal completely, but they are looking for grapes to blend with cabernet to fill in the holes left in the flavor when grapes grow in hotter temperatures. Good luck, California.

THE WAR IN ISRAEL IS ABOUT PROTECTING WESTERN CIVILIZATION And this column does an outstanding job of reminding history dense people of how important this region is to stop the spread of toxic ideologies to the West. From the column:

Today, it is Israel that prevents the Eastern Mediterranean from falling under Islamic hegemony. Jerusalem is engaged in a war to destroy Hamastan, a radical Islamist statelet on the Mediterranean shores. Israel has helped Egypt, a Mediterranean state, to fight the Islamist insurgency in Sinai. The Muslim Brotherhood, which ruled Egypt for a little more than a year remains the strongest political force in the country, and under certain circumstances could potentially regain power. To Israel’s north along the the Mediterranean shore lies Lebanon, where Hezbollah, a Shiite proxy of Iran, is the true ruler; Israel seems intent on defeating Iran’s main arm in the region. Syria envelops Lebanon to the north, along the Mediterranean, and from its east, and Israel is fighting the Iranian presence there.
Israel’s alignment with Greece and Cyprus helps balance the power of Turkey, a country that has been led for more than two decades by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, an Islamist who encourages the Islamization of Europe and has hosted both ISIS and Hamas. Moreover, Turkey eyes control of the Eastern Mediterranean’s gas riches. Iran and Turkey have an interest in weakening the Western presence in the Eastern Mediterranean to facilitate access to and influence over the Muslims in the Balkans, as well as to control the routes of illegal immigration into Europe. West of Egypt along the Mediterranean coast is Libya, where the Tripoli faction in the civil war is penetrated by Islamists and aided by Turkey. Russia too flirts with Islamic radicals such as Hamas and favors a reduced Western role in the Eastern Mediterranean to deny Europe access to the region’s energy resources.

This is a war for Western Civilization, it's really that simple.
