9/10/24 Blog: Join the KOAKast of the Debate Tonight on KOA's Facebook Page

WE'VE GOT A BUSY DAY TODAY Tonight at 7pm we're going to covering the ABC News Presidential Debate via a KOA Kast with Ross Kaminksy, Ben Allbright, and me. The debate will air in it's entirety on KHOW and we will join it in progress on KOA and probably do some debate reactions after it's over. I have no clue what to expect from this debate after the last one to be honest and I'm kind of stoked about it. NERDS.

WHAT ARE YOUR PREDICTIONS FOR TONIGHT'S DEBATE? Because let's face it, it will probably be the only one. I went into the first debate thinking it would be a decent debate and not the spectacle that exposed Joe Biden as an addled old man so I'm cautious about speculating about tonight but of course I will anyway.

VOTERS AREN'T BUYING MIDDLE OF THE ROAD HARRIS And this column from a left leaning site lays out that astute voters are not falling for her race to the middle. This is bad news for Vice President Harris as she tries to scrape off the stink of her boss's administration to make us forget she was a huge part of it.

THE AURORA MAYOR OFFERS COPS TO GET THOSE APARTMENTS CLEANED UP And it's about time. If I'm the owners of this building I jump on this like white on rice and get my act together to get these buildings liveable again before I sell them and get out of Aurora. But that's just what I'd do. Read about the Mayor offering police protection from the gangs that don't exist here.

COMPASSION GOES OUT THE WINDOW WHEN YOU GET PUNCHED IN THE HEAD This Op-Ed from an out of towner who was visiting Denver only to get punched in the back of the head by one of our mentally ill, likely drug addicted downtown denizens is a doozy. First off, this man makes sure we know that HE is one of the good and compassionate people who has volunteered with homeless organizations and even gotten motel rooms for homeless people in the past. However, his visit to Denver was punctuated by an assault that seems to have changed his mind about homelessness and the industry that supports it. Read this bit:

I’m angry at you. I’m angry at me. I’m angry that we have collectively created and sanctioned a society that is unsafe. Unsafe. If I as a visitor to Denver can be attacked in broad daylight on a nice street, unprovoked, by an unhoused man, then we are unsafe. We have failed; I have failed you, and you have failed me. And we have all failed that man whose psychosis or drug-induced delusion or whatever demons he’s dealing with led him to attack a stranger.
I’m no expert on homelessness, but it’s nothing new to me. Formally, I’ve worked in soup kitchens and volunteered with a Room in The Inn shelter program. Informally, I’ve shared meals with homeless folks and taken people to motel rooms in the middle of winter.
But the last several years, I’ve been surprised to see how bad the situation has become, and it’s become increasingly difficult for me to call any of this OK: Entire sections of public parks in Queens abandoned to become urine-soaked campgrounds. Blocks of roadside RVs becoming permanent lodging along the railroad tracks outside San Francisco. And now this, in Denver of all places.
I have sympathy for those on both sides of this issue as cities grapple over rules that would ban sleeping on the streets. But after what just happened, I have to agree: We need to ban living on the streets. We need a ban, and, in tandem, we need the resources to fix the situation that we’ve created. We need adequate public housing for those sidelined by our high-stakes economy. We need forced re-institutionalization for those mentally ill who cannot take care of themselves. And we need free drug treatment for the victims of our pharmaceutical piracy and our ridiculously failed war on drugs.

He's not angry at me, I've been railing against these programs and rules that make living on the street easier for years now. But it's nice that he's finally realized that an otherwise civilized country allowing people to live like feral animals on the street is the opposite of compassion. Welcome to the club, pal.

DENVER'S JOB MARKET IS STILL GREAT According the ADP survey which uses actual payroll data to calculate such things. They showed median income rose 5.8% in the last year, which is about 2 points higher than the national average. Find out where the real money is here.

THOMAS MASSIE CALLS OUT BOTH PARTIES ON SPENDING And if you want to know why I love this man and am happy he's in Congress watch this. It's over six minutes of "YOU ALL SUCK". I love him so much.

THE POLITICS OF ENVY No one does this better than incompetent and always wrong "economist" Robert Reich, who got canned from Princeton only to get scooped up by Berkeley where he continues to spread his love of communism. In this column he goes on and on about how dangerous Elon Musk is because he's so rich and he's supports Donald Trump. Then he advises the handful of idiots who actually listen to him that they need to not buy Tesla's or use X for advertising (even though he is active on the platform himself) because Musk BAD and must be stopped. His envy and jealousy of Musk is palpable. I only share this so you understand how much the Left hates success and successful people, they only worship people who serve government.

NOBODY LOOKS GOOD IN THE TYREEK HILL VIDEO He was an ahole, the cops were aholes, it was a bad look for everyone.

WE'RE NUMBER 3! But that's better than we've been in the rankings of the Best Countries In the World. Switzerland, certainly not to my surprise, came in at #1 again. Find them all here. Do you know where the US ranked the lowest in our overall scores? Our business climate. Imagine that.

THE WAR COMES TO MOSCOW By way of drones that Ukraine launched that successfully landed in some high rise apartment buildings 30 km southeast of the Kremlin. We'll see if this has any impact on public opinion in Russia, not that public opinion matters much there.

NO, CHURCHILL WASN'T THE BAD GUY And what the actual BLANK was Tucker Carlson thinking by giving a guy who says the REAL villain of WWII was Churchill a platform to talk about it??? This column from the Telegraph does a great job shutting down the notion that it wasn't Hitler that was the problem, it was Churchill. As far as I know Churchill didn't round up anyone to put them in ovens so right there it's fairly obvious who the bad guy is.

A HALF FULL BAG OF CHEETOS IS A WORLD CHANGER If you're talking about the biosphere of a cave anyway. This is a nerdy science story that is very interesting about how delicate the ecosystem inside Carlsbad caverns is and how dropping a cheetoh sets off a chain of events that most of us never think about.
