8/27/24 Blog: An Immigrant Helping Others Succeed, and a March for Kids

RYAN SCHUILING POPS IN TO TALK GOP POLITICS Because Ryan is a native Michigander I was pretty sure he'd know how the Republican National Committee dealt with a leadership situation there very similar to the idiocy happening here in Colorado so he's on at 12:30 to talk about how that was resolved and what it might mean for the GOP here.

A PIECE OF ETHIOPIA IN AURORA And a man who is trying to not only help immigrants who come here but wants to spread the news about Africa to Americans. CBS 4 did a great story on Samuel GebreMichael here and I am going to talk to him about his immigrant experience and the impact that community has on Aurora and Colorado. He's also helping organize the Colorado Diasporic Film Festival which is happening this week. Find out all the details here.

DEBORAH FLORA IS TALKING ABOUT KIDS And she is one of the featured speakers this weekend at the March for Kids, which should bring thousands to DC for a march about protecting kids. Find out more about the march here, and Deborah joins me at 2:30 to talk about it.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE PROTECTING KIDS FROM LOOK NO FURTHER Then the new social studies standards for first graders. The ones where FIRST GRADERS learn about SEX WORK. Read this thread for more.

CHILDREN NEVER NEEDED THE COVID VACCINE And a new study from Oxford is pretty damning of our government, which is still recommending that everyone over six months old be vaccinated. Check this out:

ZERO deaths and episodes of myocarditis and pericarditis in vaccinated kids ONLY. Your children do NOT need this vaccine. DO NOT.

AURORA FORMALLY ADOPTS THE STEP DENVER MODEL For their new homeless navigation center which is a "work first" place designed to get people back into the workforce and into society rather than just warehousing them somewhere. Read more about it here.

WE MUST ADD FEES TO TABOR Because the Democratic Legislature (where they hold almost super majorities in both houses) keep just piling new "fees" on us to get around TABOR. How many and how much? From the Denver Gazette:

Legislators have been shifting more and more of the state’s revenue dependence away from tax increases, which voters have mostly kept in close check by refusing to approve them, to fee-based enterprises not subject to TABOR, says the report. In the first year after TABOR was enacted, fee-based enterprises generated $742 million. In the 28 years between 1992 and 2020, legislators created 24 new enterprises which together, collected $20.9 billion in 2020. By 2023, their revenue had increased by over 3,000%, far beyond population growth (62%), to $23.3 billion, said the report.
Proposition 117, passed in 2020, required new enterprises projected to collect more than $100 million obtain voter approval. In response the state established eight new enterprises and expanded a preexisting one to bypass TABOR again, costing Coloradans a total of $88.3 million in fiscal year 2023, according to the report.

Doesn't like they understand why we passed TABOR in the first place, does it? Thank goodness they all ran on making Colorado more affordable, can you IMAGINE what we'd be paying if not for that. That was sarcasm.

DOES ANYONE LIKE RTD? Apparently not as Bronco fans weigh in with Mark Kiszla on the many ways they hate it.

IT'S TIME TO BAN SMARTPHONES IN SCHOOL, PART #1564 Another column about the damage that we have done to kids by attaching their faces to smartphones. As more and more districts across the country are banning smartphones it's time to consider it and this column makes the case.

HEY KAMALA, WHAT ABOUT DEI? This is from a few months ago but clearly demonstrates why need a debate. Watch this.

THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN HAS RELEASED DEBATE VIDEO And it's of Kamala debating herself and I have to say, it's really good.

MEANWHILE THE AP NOTICED KAMALA IS THE INCUMBENT And actually did a story about how she's trying to have her cake and eat it to with the idiotic "new way forward" slogan. As the incumbent, she is essentially running against her own record. Nice of the AP to notice, but note how they only used glowing quotes from Republican leaning sources. Funny how they managed to do that. Funny.

IF YOU THINK YOUR LIFE IS BORING, YOU'RE NOT ALONE About 25% of Americans say their lives are boring and frankly, they have no one to blame but themselves if you ask me. If you're living anything but Main Character Energy you're just not trying. Get out of your house, do something new that you've never done before. Challenge yourself. Or just read here about how you're not alone.

THINKING OF RETIRING ABROAD? Here is a list of the best countries to do so if that's your desire. I've got to check out Portugal soon based on this.

MARK ZUCKERBERG FINALLY COMES CLEAN ABOUT GOVERNMENT ORDERED CENSORSHIP And you can read the letter he sent to the House Oversight committee here:

I guess this was to put on notice any potential Republican President in the future that they won't enjoy the same campaign donations that Facebook provided the Democrats? Or is he finally leaning into actual free speech on Facebook? I doubt it.

THE DEMOCRATS MAY FOOL AMERICA AGAIN And Gerard Baker wrote a great column about how their strategy of soaring and lying rhetoric before an election ends in less than soaring stewardship of the US of A. Read it here.

BALLOTS DROP SEPTEMBER 6TH IN NORTH CAROLINA And this is why I think the Democrats will just hide Kamala until the election. Ballots drop on September 6th in North Carolina before they drop in many, many other places well before election day. This strategy might work.

GERMANY SCREWED UP BY DOING AWAY WITH NUKES But the Green Dream must go on, so Germany has given itself sky high electricity prices and devastated their manufacturing industry. They jacked up energy prices and if they had leaned INTO nuclear instead of running away, they could have cut their carbon emissions by another 73%. But the greenies have seen too many movies about nuclear problems instead.

ANOTHER HOSTAGE IS RESCUED BY ISRAEL And the Bedouin Israeli man is doing well and being checked out by doctors now. Israel pulled him out of the tunnels in Southern Gaza because of good intelligence on the area. Good for him and good for Israel, now bring the rest home.

WHY CHILDREN CAN'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE TASK AT HAND This is super interesting about why kids can't seem to concentrate on the task at hand and it's actually a good thing. It's because kids spread attention to take in WAY more information than they need for the task at hand, but they are learning while doing that. As adults we already know all that peripheral stuff so it's easier to pay attention to one thing. Unless you're me, I am very easily distracted.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF TYPE 1.5 DIABETES? This is like a slow developing kind of Type 1 diabetes, usually diagnosed in people after 30 years of age and much slower to develop a dependency on insulin than Type 1. However it CAN be affected by lifestyle choices like obesity and inactivity. Very interesting and you can read more here. Find the symptoms in that article as well, but they are very similar to Type 1 symptoms.

GAVIN NEWSOM SINGLE HANDEDLY CLEANS UP HOMELESS CAMPS This video is hysterical.

B

Yes, that's right, we're supposed to believe that the Governor is actually out with road crews cleaning up homeless encampments. Sure, sure he does. Sure he will "every single day". I'm sure. My guess is he was there just long enough to get this video so he can use it in his campaign ads.

WHY DID THE FBI CLEAN THE ROOF WHERE TRUMP'S SHOOTER LAID? One member of the counter sniper SWAT team says he believes it is FBI interference with an investigation into themselves. I'd love to say I am feeling better about this whole thing but the longer it goes on it gets harder to believe the FBI didn't want Trump to get shot. And still no motive? Still no answer as to why this kid had encrypted accounts from overseas? Nothing?

LOVE LIGHTS UP YOUR BRAIN DIFFERENTLY FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE This is super interesting but not surprising to anyone who has loved different people differently. Romantic and parental love evoked the strongest response, with parental love activating a part of the brain deep inside, whereas love for strangers activated some parts but not with the same intensity. Read more here.

THE CALL FOR DRUG INJECTION SITES RETURNS And I will fight this with every fiber of my being. I've seen what these places have done to the surrounding neighborhoods in Vancouver and we do NOT want this here. We can't make drug addiction any easier, people. We need to make it way, way harder. It is a lie that these centers reduce overdoses, it is simply a lie. Look at the overdose numbers in Vancouver for more. This is a good story on what may be coming.

THE ROTTEN TRUTH ABOUT BALD EAGLES I already knew this stuff but maybe you didn't. Watch below or click here.

AND THE BRONCO FAN DOESN'T EVEN SPILL HIS BEER After being punched repeatedly at the Packers game Sunday.

What's with the gray sweats and white shirt combo? What gang are these two from?

COLLEGE KID WITH STUPID HAIR RUNS INTO CHARLIE KIRK BUZZSAW And gets his ass handed to him very nicely. Watch below or click here.

A MOMENT ON RUNNING FORM Watch below or click here but I just jogged around my basement doing this and it seemed to help.
