8/26/24 Blog: The GOP Boots Dave Williams, and A Spat About The Mona Lisa

NOW EVERYONE IS GENDER FLUID, AMIRIGHT? In what can only be called the Gayification of history a teacher told her class that the Mona Lisa, which is the most famous and most studied painting in the world, is actually a self portrait by the newly "gender fluid" Leonardo Da Vinci. Except what? A quick scan of Mona Lisa information on the internet shows this is a theory after all although one that has appeared fairly recently. After her kid was given this bit of history Rep. Brandi Bradley went to the school to ask the teacher about this and I've got Brandi at 12:30 to discuss it. She recorded it and posted on X.com:

I think the teacher handled it fairly when presented with the question of why this was taught. And I think this is the way to handle something like this minus the recording and posting of the audio. Talk to your kid's teachers, find out why they are doing they are doing. I do think we can discuss why FOUR Pride flags are in the classroom. Four seems excessive. Rep. Brandi Bradley joins me at 12:30 to discuss.

DAVE WILLIAMS WAS VOTED OUT OF THE GOP CHAIRMANSHIP SATURDAY And though he says the meeting is illegitimate the National Republican Campaign Committee has already recognized the legitimacy of the new chairman Eli Bremer, who was elected that same day. He joins me at 1 to talk about what comes next and how to get the formal recognition of the national party so he can get to work getting Republicans elected. Read more about Saturday's meeting here.Williams has rejected the meeting as "illegal". Meanwhile Colorado Republicans keep making headlines by doing stupid stuff like not certifying elections where they did pretty well. And let's not even talk about how badly the GOP is doing with young people. Dick Wadhams writes here about how disastrous Williams so called leadership has been in attracting (or more likely actively repelling) younger voters. Great.

DOES RFK JR. HELP TRUMP ENOUGH? I've got the Daily Caller's Mary Rooke on to discuss whether or not it makes much of a difference along with Kamala's extended press honeymoon. She joins me at 2:30 to chat for a moment.

JON KARL DOESN'T PAY ATTENTION Speaking of extended press honeymoon, Senator Tom Cotton was on ABC's This Week and had to school Jon Karl on something rather important, and that is that Kamala Harris has not refudiated ANY of her prior positions when she ran for President in 2019. Watch this:

Here she is in 2019 where she admitted she co sponsored Medicare for all and wanted to get rid of private insurance. FYI, even if the UK where they have the vaunted NHS they have private insurance. And they REGULARLY deny care for certain services.

But I'm sure Jon Karl just slept in that day.

HOW TO FIX THE MESS THAT IS RTD Randal O'Toole may be the most knowledgeable person around when it comes to RTD and he's written a column full of so much bad news for our failing mass transit system it is mind boggling. He also provides solutions though, and they aren't light rail. Read it here.

THE SPECIAL SESSION ON PROPERTY TAXES IS THIS WEEK And if you want to begin to understand how complicated this is read this article about some of the machinations going on BEFORE the session even starts. From trying to cap future increases to lowering the rate overall there is a LOT going on here, but the end result will not lower your taxes this year. Read more here.

HOW DOUGLAS COUNTY HANDLES HOMELESSNESS And as resident of DougCo I can tell you we've not seen the level of homelessness they have in Denver and for that I'm grateful. But I do credit the county's "Handouts Don't Help" program to disincentive panhandling at intersections for part of that. This is a long article about how the county put together programs to nip a problem in the bud rather than wait for it to get out of control.

THE LITTLETON HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM IS UNDER INVESTIGATION And I'm sure the ENTIRE team isn't under investigation but this certainly casts a long shadow over the entire program. A report was made anonymously about an alleged assault involving football players but that is all the school is giving up right now. We'll see what happens but it is serious enough that a team dinner was canceled along with a Saturday scrimmage. I sure hope these boys didn't do something incredibly stupid that can damage their future and hurt someone else in the process. Here's hoping.

WHY DOES DPS'S SUPERINTENDENT STILL HAVE A JOB? Forget the massive raise given to this man because he's of Hispanic descent, how does Alex Marrero still have a job? That is the subject of this BLISTERING column calling out all the failures of this overpaid ineffective man. If your child is black or brown and you live in poverty, chances are your kids are performing well below state standards, but don't expect this man to do anything about it. He won't even release the breakout numbers because they are so bad. But that's not all, check this:

Employee morale is in the tank and staff turnover has skyrocketed. One district official described “a revolving door” at the administration building as well as among school principals with roughly 20% having departed just this year. That same official commented that “Marrero struggles to understand the importance of relationships.” Another informed watcher described him as “dictatorial” and “non-collaborative in the extreme.” Still another person accused him of creating a “culture of fear.
Just this week, Boardhawk, essential reading for those following DPS, reported a spike in teacher absenteeism over the past three years. About 68,818 teacher absentee days were reported last year at 157 DPS school compared to 39,772 such absentee days at 162 schools four years ago. That is a stunning 73% increase.

Denver Public Schools takes too much money from the people to perform this badly. He must go.

YOUR DIET COULD BE GIVING YOU ANXIETY And this is not surprising knowing what we know about how blood sugar spikes and crashes affect us. This article discusses how blood sugar management could be very helpful for someone struggling with anxiety and even depression. Remember, we are what we eat! So is our brain.

ISRAEL THWARTS A HEZBOLLAH ATTACK Using intelligence that showed Hezbollah was planning a huge rocket attack in retaliation for the killing of a senior commander so Israel struck first and took out a vast majority of their rocket launching ability. This has made Hezbollah the laughing stock of the Middle Eastern world according to this story about what's happening on social media. There were damaged chicken pens in the Galilee area so this has been named the Great Chicken Massacre, which is very funny.

THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS KILLING REAL ESTATE DEALS And I'd love to have some follow up questions with the people who are pulling out of these deals. Like, who are you worried will win? A whopping 60,000 home deals were withdrawn with people citing high prices, interest rates and the Presidential election as reasons for backing out.

JAKE TAPPER ASKS THE RIGHT QUESTION And Cory Booker dodged it.

COACH PRIME TALKS ABOUT KEEPING THE NOISE DOWN And specifically the outside criticisms lobbed at him by various sources, including the Denver Post's Sean Keeler who has written about him critically numerous times. He says he doesn't care while also not taking any more question from Keeler. So take from that what you may.

CUTTING THE CORD IS NO LONGER THE DEAL IT ONCE WAS And you can call it Streamflation, as this story does, but you may do well to check out how much you're paying monthly for a crap ton of subscriptions you may or may not be watching because they have all gotten WAY more expensive as of late.

BIDENOMICS, AND NOW HARRISNOMICS, ARE CRUSHING AMERICANS And this is a big reason why Joe Biden dropped out of the race. Steve Moore writes about it here.

MAKING RANKED CHOICE VOTING WORK IN ALASKA A lot was made when Democrat Mary Pertola won the first ranked choice voting contest in Alaska. More Republicans were running so Pertola, a liberal Democrat, ended up splitting the vote. Now the Republicans have learned and candidates made a deal that whoever didn't get the most GOP votes would drop out for the general to beat Pertola. And now it has happened. We'll see what happens in the General.

THE LAST MAJOR CHARGES IN THE BREONNA TAYLOR CASE HAVE BEEN DROPPED And this should bring an end to the case of the woman shot and killed by police serving a warrant for her boyfriend's arrest. A Federal judge ruled that her boyfriend, who fired at police, was ultimately responsible for her death, thus dropping the remaining serious charges against the police officers involved. They were charged to stop violence, not because they were solid charges.

ANOTHER PLACE I'M NOT COOL ENOUGH TO GO Denver has a new bar, one with $5 drinks and it's so secret I'll never find it. Read about it here.

THE BEST OF STATE FAIR FOOD AROUND THE COUNTRY has been gathered up by USA Today and I would totally try a vast majority of these.

BUT WHY DO YOU WANT YOUR EX BACK? There is apparently a new way on TikTok to get your ex back, but why though? I get it if you've been broken up with but why do you want someone who dumped you? If you do, try going no contact, which is the "trick" being touted here. I call it moving on. I frankly don't understand the need to remain friends with all your exes. If I didn't think they were good enough to be in a relationship with why do I want to be friends with them? I'm being totally serious here.

ELON MUSK SAID AROD, ROB AND I WERE SO GOOD Oh wait, he was talking about this video from the DNC, which is so good, but we're in the background at around the 3:30 mark so I'm sticking with the headline.

KIDS MAKING FRIENDS ON VACATION I remember this. I miss it. Watch below or click here.
