Y'all already know how I feel about fireworks (not a fan) but I don't think you understand how much I am infuriated by this story of "young people" setting off fireworks and starting a fire at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. I genuinely think the punishment for this should be these dumbasses being forced to watch while we set their car on fire and let it burn. BOEBERT'S OPPONENT IS DROWNING IN MONEY Just as I said would happen, Democratic money is POURING into the campaign coffers of her opponent Trish Calvarese. Trish is no slouch, she's likable, willing to talk to anyone (I will be having her on the show at some point) and even though I think she is wrong on most policy positions this won't be a complete walk in the park. Since the primary, she has raised $750,000 and has a good chunk of cash on hand now, just shy of what Boebert is reporting as cash on hand. This race still leans Heavily Republican but if voters who didn't vote for Boebert in the primary sit on their hands rather than vote for her it could be closer than one would think. I still think Boebert wins, but Trish could have a good enough showing to come back stronger in two years. We shall see.

President Biden (and his team that runs the country from 4pm to 10am) came out to say something about prodding Congress to take action on fentanyl on the border but does anyone care? Does it even matter what he says now? I don't think it does. He's super old, has no control over the party that just stabbed him in the back, and everyone knows it. He became utterly irrelevant a week ago Sunday. There has never been a worse time to be a White House Correspondent.
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT PUSHES BACK AT THE SECRET SERVICE Hooboy there is a LOT of finger pointing going on about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. After the testimony of the Interim Director in front of Congress members of local law enforcement from Butler County, Pennsylvania are not happy. The Beaver County DA and a detective from the force sat down with CNN and had this say:
“For the acting director to say that this is where our guys were, and this is what they’ve seen, is a misrepresentation to the American people,” Young said. “We were never asked what we’d seen or where we were from Secret Service. I can tell you that again – the pictures presented is again a misrepresentation.”
“Before this incident, I would have thought Secret Service is, like bulletproof. I mean, you’re not getting within 50 yards of somebody important, even on foot, right, let alone, you know, a sniper or something,” Bible said. “It honestly seems like, you know, they don’t have answers, so they’re just sort of pointing fingers and passing the buck around.”
They are not wrong.
MADURO IS CRUSHING DISSENT IN VENEZUELA And I am so disheartened by this. It's not surprising as the Venezuelan people were disarmed years ago by the Chavez administration. From Wikipedia:

YOU DON'T HATE THE MEDIA ENOUGH This story about the way Reuters covered the death of the head of the "political" arm of terror group Hamas shows you exactly how they feel. It was so bad that Reuters changed the headline to something less fawning but the internet is forever.
THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION SHOULD HAVE NEVER GONE POLITICAL Which is a funny thing to say because they are a think tank in Washington DC so you would think they were always political. That is not accurate at all, as they have traditionally been a strictly policy sort of place, leaving the slings and arrows of the political game to others while waiting on the sidelines to give opinions on policy to politicians who wanted their perspective. They threw their lot in with Trump in a big way under current leader Dr. Kevin Roberts in what has been a big departure, and now it's bitten them in the butt. Trump has been openly criticizing Project 2025 and by default Heritage and now the head of Project 2025 is out because of it. The real issue I have with Roberts is that he is running both the Foundation AND their lobbying PAC, which has never been done before to my knowledge. He's also a huge Trump guy and has made the Foundation into a kind of Trump surrogate, which is just bad. When you put all your eggs in one Trump basket you should expect what's happening now to happen.
