7/12/24 Blog: The Old Man Does Well Enough, and a Mission Lead Coffee Shop

YESTERDAY MADE THE DEMS COUP MUCH HARDER If you can get past the one million "anyways" in yesterday's press conference you can see that President Joe Biden did just well enough to tamp down the rebellion trying to replace him at the top of the ticket, creepy whispering and yelling aside, he did okay. Watch below for more.

Of course he introduced Ukraine President Zelensky as President Putin and he did do this.

I'm sure Trump was super mad about the demotion. The consensus this morning is that he did well enough, though many Democratic media sources are NOT happy about this. The headline from The Atlantic today is: A Stubborn Old Narcissist Ambles Toward Disaster. Not super flattering to the President. He's not leaving this race voluntarily. Democrats are all running around pointing fingers at other Democrats who hid the so-called shocking decline of the President. If these people listened to talk radio or consumed ANY news out of their bubble they would not have been surprised. Now that they realized they are backing a loser they are all trying to blame each other for the mess, which isn't entirely wrong. The Babylon Bee nailed it here with this headline:

In New 'Ocean's 14', George Clooney Pulls Off $30 Million Heist By Tricking People Into Giving Money To Politician Before Revealing He's Demented

The Telegraph in the UK says the presser was the last straw and that Biden can't come back from his two incredibly bad gaffes but it's not gonna be that easy to pry the reins of power from Dr. Jill's Joe Biden's hands. The AP grabbed the "highlights" from yesterday's press conference here, and they aren't good. One analyst said "bet al the chips" that Biden will step aside but I don't see that happening.

A TIMELINE OF MEDIA MALFEASANCE IN HIDING JOE'S DECLINE This is an OUTSTANDING thread and should put to rest any of the "we didn't know" crap we're hearing now. You can read it all here as a Substack post. It's incredibly damning for all those who are telling his decline was 'sudden" and "unexpected". Sure it was. I've got Drew Holden on the show today at 2:30 to talk about it.

Here is six minutes of the "powerful communicator" Kamala Harris lying about Biden.

A COFFEE SHOP WITH AN ARRESTING MISSION I wandered into a new coffee shop in Parker called Convict Coffee and had a really good cup of coffee while I also learned about the mission of the father and son duo who were running it. I've got founder Dan Klehm on today at 1 to talk about how coffee and incarceration are linked at Convict Coffee. Find it here, and they have a light, medium, AND dark roast brewing daily.

A MAJORITY OF VOTERS FIND OUR CANDIDATES EMBARRASSING A whopping 63% find our choices for POTUS "embarrassing" and I have to say I'm in that camp. Last night I was texting with friends about the press conference and I said I can't believe these are our choices. I meant it and I'm not alone. A new Pew poll has some startling details of how voters feel and it's not good. From Pew Research:

Only about a quarter of voters (24%) say the phrase “mentally sharp” describes Biden very or fairly well; more than twice as many (58%) describe Trump as mentally sharp.
The share of voters describing Biden as mentally sharp has declined 6 points since January and is considerably lower than it was in 2020.

Trump is up by 5% in this poll as well, even as voters don't think he's a nice person. This is more bad news for Biden. Remember though, the only poll that matters is on election day.

DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS ASKING FOR MONEY TOO And a bond issue with be on the ballot this year, the same year Denver is asking for TWO sales tax increases. I'm interested to see what voters say.

HOW TO MAKE HOUSING MORE AFFORDABLE This is a great point-counterpoint column where I agree with everything Sage Naumann says and nothing the pro government solutions author says. Government is the problem here, and they want more of your money to fix the problem they created without addressing ANY of the underlying causes for WHY the problem exists. Just say no.

IF YOU'RE GONNA BE STUPID YOU BETTER BE TOUGH, RADIO EDITION Do not take my coverage of this story as schadenfreude as it is about a competing radio company, but more of a "this is what's wrong with my industry" sort of take. Randy Corporon, who has had a show on KNUS for years, is now out at the station and facing multiple lawsuits right now. What did he do? He amplified the false claims of other stolen election conspiracists like Joe Oltmann that the election was stolen by Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic. Rather than wait for actual evidence, Corporon lead the charge that has destroyed the Republican party in Colorado for now and he AND Salem Media are being sued by Dominion for defamation. This is the same company that settled with Fox News for $789 million bucks. Corporon is also facing a lawsuit over money he wired to scammers in Hong Kong instead of the divorced woman who was expecting it. This entire story is why I try to wait for ACTUAL evidence before running around spouting off. This could potentially put Salem Media out of business, and it has already done so to Corporon's radio show.

A SHAKEUP AT CBS NEWS VINDICATES CATHERINE HERRIDGE Herridge was the longtime reporter for CBS News that was fired from the network by the News Chief in what was widely believed to be about her coverage of Hunter Biden's laptop. Now that chief is out.

COULD A CEASEFIRE BE IN REACH? This article says yes, that a deal between Hamas and Israel is possible, but it also says that the deal would release "some" of the hostages and that is not enough. They must all be released or Israel should continue hammering away.

NO, JUICING ISN'T HEALTHY It's a fact that when you take a fruit or vegetable and "juice" it you take all the fiber out of it and what you leave behind, the juice, is really just sugar water with a few vitamins. Eat the fruit and veggies instead, or use them to make a smoothie that keeps all the fiber.

100 YEARS OF MAKING FUN OF VEGETARIANS Why do others dietary choices vex us so? Perhaps because they often come with a health dose of sanctimony from the vegetarians. This article points out we've been making fun of vegetarians for a century now.

AT+T PHONE CUSTOMERS JUST GOT HACKED And I mean ALL AT+T customers, at least according to the company. They say hackers stole records of calls and texts from ALL of their customers. No highly sensitive information was hacked, like payment or social security numbers, but the hackers now have a record of everyone you've interacted with on your phone. What could hackers do with that information?

HOW NATURE CREATED RED ROCKS This is a cool article reminding us of how lucky we are to live where Red Rocks Amphitheatre is and just how it was formed by nature MILLIONS of years ago.

IF YOU USE RIDESHARE TO GO TO COORS FIELD You need to know the City of Denver is now restricting where rideshares can pick up passengers around the ballfield. Find out more here.

HOW ABOUT A LITTLE SNOW TUBING THIS WEEKEND? This is a fun way to beat the heat in Keystone, as they have pushed old snow to make two strips of tubing runs. I like it.

BREAKING NEWS: THERE IS A NEW BLUE BELL ICE CREAM FLAVOR And as BlueBell is one the best ice creams out there you should probably pick up some Cookies N Cream Cheesecake ice cream.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU TEACH YOUR PUPPIES Because they get a lot bigger.

THIS COULD BE MY OLDER SONS

WHAT IS THE GREATEST INVENTION IN HISTORY? I'll admit a lot of stuff popped into my mind but agriculture wasn't one of them. This column makes the extremely compelling argument that agriculture is what lead to all the other incredible inventions by creating the foundation of civilization.

NEARLY HALF OF CANCER DEATHS COULD BE PREVENTED IF WE MADE LIFESTYLE CHANGES That is the speculation by scientists when you see how much those choices influence whether or not we get cancer and die. Of course smoking is still the biggest cause of cancer as a lifestyle choice, and being overweight is right below that. Add in not exercising and drinking alcohol and you've got quite the top four. What's funny to me is that when someone gets cancer, they usually make all these changes so why not make them BEFORE you get cancer? Just a thought.

STEAK AND ALE IS BACK, BABY! I for real miss Steak and Ale. It was "fancy" enough when I was young that it felt special to go there, but it was always pretty affordable and now a new location has opened up in Burnsville, Minnesota. I'm not saying I'd fly to Minnesota just to eat here, but if I'm in the Twin Cities it's happening.
