7/2/24 Blog: Our Futurist Thomas Frey, and Sex Work and Homelessness

THOMAS FREY IS ON TO TALK AI ETHICS As the production of Artificial Intelligence is whizzing along it's time to come up with an ethical framework to use going forward and our man Thomas has one right here. He joins me at 1 to discuss. Find him to speak at your event by clicking here.

THE COLLISION OF SEX WORK AND HOMELESSNESS David John Heitz is a longtime reporter who suffered a breakdown that left him homeless for several years. He's working his way back and lives at Fusion Studios, an apartment complex for formerly homeless people. He's been very vocal about the issues he faces living with people with significant mental health and addiction issues, but he continues to write and create content for NewsBreak. His latest piece on the intersection of sex work and homelessness is very good and you should read it here. Every click helps him get his life back!

EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT BIDEN'S DECLINE And if you don't believe me, just listen to Carl Bernstein on CNN. REPORTERS HAVE BEEN COVERING FOR HIM. Of course they have. Of course.

And when Bernstein said it was "inexplicable" I laughed out loud. We all know the explanation. We all know. A former White House photographer is punching holes in the story that this has all happened in the last six months, as he didn't work there since May of 2022 and he says everyone knew about Biden's decline even then. But don't expect the Biden family to do the right thing, they are too dependent on Biden related family grift for him to quit. Hunter, especially.

A LISTENER TOOK A STAB AT THE 3AM COMMERCIAL I mentioned Hillary Clinton's 3am ad the other day and this listener decided to resurrect it and he did a great job!

DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS FINDS A NEW WAY TO WASTE MONEY You would think that DPS would spend money on improving student achievement or insuring students are safe at school, but nah. Jimmy Sengenberger writes here about how much money was wasted filing for trademark protection for school logos at EXACTLY the same time a parent group focused on safety HAPPENED to have the logo on a Facebook page. You will not believe what they did to stop that instead of just making sure students were safe instead. Read it here.

CHERRY CREEK SCHOOLS HATES DISPROPORTIONALITY UNTIL THEY DON'T A recent presentation to the race obsessed Cherry Creek Schools about "disproportionality" in the Special Education and Gifted and Talented groups shows how when there are too many white or Asian students achieving at a high level it's bad, while if too many Native American and Latino students achieve at a high level it's good. It's all so stupid and you can read it here.

TRUMP TRIES TO GET HIS NEW YORK CONVICTION TOSSED Because of the January 6th ruling and this is a stretch if you ask me. The cover up occurred when he wasn't President, but the judge allowed some stuff into evidence that MAY count as "official duties" so that is why they are asking for the verdict to be set aside and sentencing to be delayed until this can be sorted out. The NY DA's office hasn't commented but I'm guessing they are going to be against this as the Dems want to blast Trump's sentence all over the place to distract from Joe Biden's cognitive issues.

WHY HAVEN'T THEY FIXED OUR DAMN ROADS YET? After Democrats passed a massive new tax package filled with new taxes called fees we were told by the Governor that the money would "fix our damn roads". So what gives? Corey Gaines writes about where the considerable sum of money has gone, and it has NOT gone to fix our roads. It has gone for a bunch of projects designed to get us out of our cars and into mass transit. It was a lie. I told you it was a lie, and it was a lie.

MORTGAGE RATES MAY BE HEADED DOWN IN SEPTEMBER And I'm just going to say this, if you are in the market to buy do NOT wait until mortgage rates dip. That is going to unleash a feeding frenzy of buyers who have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for rates to drop. Get a mortgage now, refi it later. You're welcome. Rates are expected to be lowered by the Fed in September.

THE ESTABLISHMENT IS GETTING CRUSHED This is a great column on the rise of populism around the world, where establishment types are losing elections and the formerly dominant left wing is setting things on fire because their way it being soundly rejected. Read it here.

IT'S GONNA BE BUSY AS HELL AT DIA THIS WEEKEND And it's already started, but the new TSA scanning tech should speed things along. CBS Denver reported on that here.

GEN ZERS ARE MORE LIKELY TO JUSTIFY CRIME And this goes along nicely with their reputation of being unable to handle any sort of difficulty and the decline of religion and morals in our society. A new study showed that Gen Z is FAR more likely to engage in fraud to save a few bucks and many of them have lied about a purchase to get a refund they didn't deserve. That is called stealing and it's wrong. I hope someone steals from them so they can see how that feels.

PALISADE PEACHES ARE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE! After being affected by some early spring freezes, the hot weather has the peach trees working overtime and the peach harvest is going to be ahead of schedule this year!

NEW YORK IS LOSING RESIDENTS FAST And they are losing more of them than any other state. Why? Housing costs, crime, and high taxes. Hmmm, sounds familiar, doesn't it? Read it here.

COLORADO DEMS DID THE RIGHT THING By voting down a stupid cease fire resolution that would have only served to divide their caucus. The Central Committee debated the issue before voting it down 40 to 55% with some members abstaining. This is why Democrats win, they keep their eye on what voters really care about. The Colorado GOP would do well to take note.

IT'S NOT JUST THE US WITH A HUGE DEBT PROBLEM It is the world. The world's governments have a whopping $91 TRILLION in debt right now, a THIRD of which is ours. From an article on CNN of all places:

In the United States, the federal government will spend $892 billion in the current fiscal year on interest payments — more than it has earmarked for defense and approaching the budget for Medicare, health insurance for older people and those with disabilities.
Next year, interest payments will top $1 trillion on national debt of more than $30 trillion, itself a sum roughly equal to the size of the US economy, according to the Congressional Budget Office, Congress’s fiscal watchdog.
The CBO sees US debt reaching 122% of GDP a mere 10 years from now. And in 2054, debt is forecast to hit 166% of GDP, slowing economic growth.

We must get our debt under control before complete catastrophe strikes.

THREE TIPS TO MANAGING YOUR DIET And this is all solid advice and pretty easy to follow.

POPCORN IS THE OG SNACK With the first evidence of popcorn going back about 6,700 years in Peru. I'm just thankful someone dropped some kernels into a fire to make this happen.

RAW DOGGING IS THE NEWEST OLD THING Back in olden times when you flew somewhere there WAS no inflight entertainment. People just sat there and flew. Of course they were being served elegant meals on real dishes too, but whatever. Now there is a new trend where people fly and just stare at the seat ahead of them the entire time. And they want some sort of reward or recognition for this? It's called "thinking" and people should do it more often. It's refreshing. This is the same such idiocy as young people thinking they invented "silent walking".
