TRYING TO PROTECT GIRLS SPORTS IS HAPPENING IN COLORADO With a ballot initiative called Initiative 160. It simply says that only girls or women may participate in sports designated for girls or women. This is the important bit:
ONLY FEMALE STUDENTS, BASED ON THEIR BIOLOGICAL SEX AT BIRTH, MAY PARTICIPATE ON ANY TEAM OR IN A SPORT OR ATHLETIC EVENT DESIGNATED AS BEING FOR FEMALES, WOMEN, OR GIRLS. NOTHING IN THIS SECTION SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO RESTRICT THE ELIGIBILITY OF ANY STUDENT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY INTERSCHOLASTIC, INTRAMURAL, OR CLUB ATHLETIC TEAM, SPORT, OR ATHLETIC EVENT DESIGNATED AS FOR MALES, MEN, OR BOYS OR DESIGNATED AS COEDUCATIONAL OR MIXED.

Rather than let the people decide on whether or not to keep boys out of girls sports, the Democrat opposition is attacking whether or not it violates the Single Subject Rule in Colorado. TWO GUN BILLS PASS THE HOUSE AND SENATE And one of them give the CBI more money to investigate the illegal use and ownership or attempted ownership of guns. Even though it could create some turf wars I'm all for giving more money to stop criminals who try to possess and use guns. The second bill requires guns in cars be locked up or in the trunk and this measure is trying to address theft from those cars. Essentially it makes the victims of a crime the criminals. Even though I am staunchly against leaving an unlocked gun in a car I hate this bill for that reason. If you have a to leave a weapon in a car you best secure it somehow.
HISTORIC DENVER SHOULD PICK UP THE BILL FOR PRESERVATION I don't love when old buildings and landmarks get torn down, but sometimes it's not feasible financially to save them. That's what the Monfort Company is saying about the old El Chapultepec building in LoDo. They bought the building a couple of years ago and say they have worked with Denver Fire and inspectors to find out about the condition of the space and were told it is "uninhabitable due to various engineering and safety concerns" from unpermitted changes to the structure made by a prior tenant. Now the Monfort Co wants to tear it down to build another boxy space for restaurants and whatnot and Historic Denver has filed for a historic designation to stop it. Though I appreciate the effort, why not ask Monfort Co to do more to honor the previous design when the build a new space? Read more here. Private property rights are very important too.
DEMOCRATS FIND NEW WAYS TO TORTURE RAPE VICTIMS OMG this column from George Brauchler is horrifying. In an effort to give rapists another tool to see the error of their ways two Democrats have crapped all over rape victims by requiring they be notified of "restorative justice" efforts by their rapists. From the column:
Unsurprisingly, rape victims — adults and children — often do not want to ever again have contact with their rapist, to include seeking court orders to never again have contact with them. Mabrey and Snyder do not care. Their bill mandates that our Department of Corrections (DOC) notify the victim-survivor of the rapist’s “accountability” letter, regardless of the nature of the offense or even the content of the letter. It could be a poem celebrating their crime, or a letter intended to blame and guilt the victim. DOC “shall” make it available to the victim. And there appears to be no limit to the number of letters the rapist can send.

ELON MUSK IS SOUR ON LEMON He is the one who wanted voices from the Left on Twitter and he got his wish when the awful Don Lemon came aboard to do a show on X after being canned by CNN for being awful. After sitting for an interview where Lemon asked about the most salacious accusations and missteps by Musk, Elon decided to not officially do business with Lemon after all. Even though they did not have a signed contract, Lemon plans to hold Musk up for promises made. This is why you don't do business with progressives, sir, they will always bite you in the end unless you are one of them.

The beaten teen is still unconscious in the hospital and the family won't know the extent of her brain injuries until she wakes up. CAR COMPANIES ARE RATTING PEOPLE OUT ON THEIR DRIVING And in some cases it's causing insurance rates to spike. Internet connected cars collect all sorts of data on things like speeding, hard braking and accelerating. They are then giving the data to the Lexis Nexus system which is providing it to car insurance companies. From the article:
Kenn Dahl says he has always been a careful driver. The owner of a software company near Seattle, he drives a leased Chevrolet Bolt. He’s never been responsible for an accident.
So Mr. Dahl, 65, was surprised in 2022 when the cost of his car insurance jumped by 21 percent. Quotes from other insurance companies were also high. One insurance agent told him his LexisNexis report was a factor.
LexisNexis is a New York-based global data broker with a “Risk Solutions” division that caters to the auto insurance industry and has traditionally kept tabs on car accidents and tickets. Upon Mr. Dahl’s request, LexisNexis sent him a 258-page “consumer disclosure report,” which it must provide per the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
What it contained stunned him: more than 130 pages detailing each time he or his wife had driven the Bolt over the previous six months. It included the dates of 640 trips, their start and end times, the distance driven and an accounting of any speeding, hard braking or sharp accelerations. The only thing it didn’t have is where they had driven the car.
