A LOCAL GUEST ON MEN'S HIGH SUICIDE RATES I recently had a guest on to talk about the high rates of older male suicide and she was not a good guest (sorry, they can't all be winners) but I've got a better guest today on the very important topic. Jim Kuemmerle, who is a long time behavioral health professional that has worked mainly in rural and frontier communities with older adults who is working on this issue in Colorado now. He joins me at 1:30 to talk about what's happening here for older men who may be feeling a lot less necessary these days.
LAUREN BOEBERT CARPETBAGS TO THE 4TH And for someone who ran as a rebel who wanted to fight those swamp dwellers she sure is pulling a Shrek now that's she's had a taste. She announced she is leaving her race in the 3rd District where she is likely going to lose, to move to MY district where there is already a crowded primary. THINGS I LEARNED IN SWITZERLAND First off, that country is incredible. I usually don't visit a country twice because there are so many places in the world to go but I will return to Switzerland in the summer. We visited Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Lucerne, and Zurich. The entire country is clean, the rail system is incredible, and the Swiss people are wonderful even though they speak one of four official languages depending on where they live (most speak more than one). I had a fantastic conversation about immigration with a cab driver who grew up in Zurich where he asked why America doesn't require people who immigrate there to learn the language and prove they have something to offer. I had no answer for him. We shall chat about it today.
IMMIGRANTS AREN'T HERE ESCAPING VIOLENCE Though I am sure there are some who have. According to this interview with day laborers they are here to provide for their families back home, to get a better life. Though I understand that goal, it needs to be met with robust immigration reform to allow them to come legally, not just walk across the southern border unchecked. This editorial is spot on.

THE DECADE OF POT Are we better off with legal pot? Depends on who you ask, really. I was talking to a driver in Switzerland about legal pot, they have it there for medical use but people openly smoked joints in all cities. He said it was only a matter of time before it was legal there, and I told him to be careful what you wish for. Though as a libertarian I always try to lean toward freedom, I think we didn't do a good enough job anticipating the public havoc pot legalization unleashed and therefore didn't do a good job mitigating it. I'm going to talk a lot about societal contracts today as I saw one that works in Switzerland but it requires people behave in a moral way for it to work.
HARVARD'S CLAUDINE GAY DEMONSTRATES BLACK PRIVILEGE As she finally resigned after being caught in a plagiarism scandal after surviving her weak Congressional testimony on when calling for genocide of Jews is allowed at Harvard, she is showing us what black privilege looks like. See, she will keep her faculty position at Harvard regardless of how many people she stole work from and its $900,000 a year salary. Would she have kept it if she were a white man? What do you think? She checks enough boxes that she must be protected from the consequences of her own actions in the most condescending racist position ever, that she can't succeed without it.

A man with his girlfriend and two kids with him was accosted by two Hispanic men with guns demanding their valuables when he managed to get his own carry weapon out and chaos ensued. Luckily the only one wounded was one of the alleged thieves.
