05/19/23 Blog: Kelly Brough Is On, Plus Science is Skewed by DEI

KELLY BROUGH WANTS TO BE DENVER MAYOR And she joins me at 12:35 for a chat about what makes her policies different than her opponent's. Find out more about Kelly by clicking here.

NOW DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION IS SKEWING SCIENCE In a Real Clear Investigation which you can find here, journalist Steve Miller did a deep dive into what kind of research the Biden Administration is funding. It shows that science funding by the government has been corrupted by politics. This is exactly what Dwight Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell speech. What he said was:

Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government. Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been over shadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.
The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

Seems we've arrived. Steve Miller joins me at 2 to discuss it.

AN AURORA COMMUNIST TEACHER CALLS FOR REVOLUTION And please don't call and threaten the school, which apparently happened yesterday. Call the school board instead and ask why it's okay for Tim Hernandez to have access to children when he is espousing an ideology that has killed millions and millions of people. I don't generally try to get anyone fired, but this guy doesn't deserve access to your kids. You really should read some of the crap he's spewing to the children in his school. It's so ignorant and idiotic it's amazing this guy finished college.

WOODLAND PARK IS FINDING OUT WHAT IT'S LIKE TO UPSET THE TEACHERS UNIONS And we've gone through this very same thing in DougCo and JeffCo when conservatives managed to wrest control of the system where only 29% of kids are doing math at grade level away from union control. The union is in attack mode, and they will disrupt in any way they can so they can run THEIR candidates under a slogan of bringing "sanity" back to Woodland Park. They will yell at school board meetings, they will tell teachers not to comply with the district orders, they will have teachers talk to parents about "how bad" the board is. Just watch. This is their MO. They cause absolute chaos and then run promising to fix the mess they are creating. Unfortunately it is very effective. I've got Woodland Park Superintendent Ken Witt on the show about it but read this for now.

DPS GIVES A RAISE TO THE SUPERINTENDENT And I must say this is absurd. Have there been huge gains in student achievement? Has there been a clearly defined school safety plan since two teachers and a student were shot at East High? What has this man done, other than possibly lie about the Mayor making threats (we still don't know who lied there) about an executive order on SROs? What has this man done to deserve a raise? According to the first Mexicana and naturalized citizen to be elected to the Board the reason is other Supers made more money than he did. That's it. Maybe they are better at their jobs? Three board members voted no, and check out what one of them, Michelle Quattlebaum said about why she voted no:

“While I agree that conversation needs to be had regarding the matter before us, I cannot agree with the process that was used,” Quattlebaum said. “As a board we should have engaged in robust discourse to, at the very least, agree upon the process by which we would use to handle the matter before us. This was not done.”
The process involved the board's general council working with Marrero’s attorney to craft an agreement acceptable on both sides, according to DPS Attorney Aaron Thompson. The contract was presented to the board, with a request for input, and adjustments were made based on email comments.

In the most shocking turn of events, there was one board member who brought up all the outstanding issues before voting no. That board member was...wait for it...Tay Anderson. Check this out:

“I am an unwavering believer in the importance of a fair wage … However, I firmly believe that the timing of this proposal is not right given the multiple pressing issues that we are currently grappling with,” Anderson said. “Our students and staff face significant challenges related to safety, mental health and academic success. As a board, our undivided attention should be dedicated to resolving these immediate problems.”

SERIOUSLY. Mark the date, I agree with Tay Anderson on something. Not enough that I won't campaign tirelessly for Kwame Spearman in the next election, but sometimes a blind squirrel finds a nut and credit must be given.C

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY THE MUSEUM'S DISPLAY WAS RACIST? The Denver Museum of Science and Nature, which I've been to many times, is closing it's Native American exhibit. They say the following:

In the 1970s, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science created the North American Indian Cultures (NAIC) Hall, despite collaboration with Indigenous representatives during its creation and ongoing efforts by curators, conservators, and others to update and improve various parts of the Hall, we acknowledge that it remains problematic. We understand that the Hall reinforces harmful stereotypes and white, dominant culture.
This summer, we will be closing the Hall. To acknowledge the harm we have caused, we have developed and agreed upon a healing statement in collaboration with Indigenous consultants, and with input and guidance from conversations with community members. The statement was crafted after taking into account the concerns expressed by the community, and in direct response to those concerns,

Okay, what was the issue? It showed art and pottery and figures dressed in native garb from what I remember. Were they inaccurate depictions? I'm genuinely looking for answers here, not casting aspersions.

ANOTHER GREAT COLORADO CRAVINGS STORY I love this series in the Denver Gazette. It's for subscribers but seriously why haven't you subscribed to the Gazette yet?? This one features a super cute little ice cream shop in Buena Vista. Seth Boster does a great job with these.

THEY MAYORAL CANDIDATES DON'T HAVE A GREAT PLAN FOR THE MIGRANT SITUATION I don't blame either of them for not having a great solution because until the border is secure anything is just bailing water out of a sinking boat. They debated last night and spoke about the migrant situation, but they must not have seen this video about migrants in Texas announcing they are coming to Denver because they can get free tickets to somewhere else:

You get more of what you subsidize and the word is obviously out the Denver is the place to get free tickets to anywhere.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL CRUSH YOU This is the most chilling testimony to come out of yesterday's hearing with whistleblowers.

WHEN YOUR SMOKING GUN HAS NO AMMO as the Democrats worked very hard yesterday to discredit the men who have come forward about the political corruption of the FBI, one Democrat thought she had THE smoking gun in the form of a tweet. When she found out she had THE WRONG ACCOUNT, she kept right on going. It was absurd.

JOE BIDEN WAS FOR WELFARE WORK REQUIREMENTS BEFORE HE WAS AGAINST THEM The welfare reform of the 1990s was EXTREMELY successful in getting people off welfare and into work. No one starved, children didn't die and people got back into the workforce and off the dole. Now he says Republican calls for a work requirement are too much. What is too much? The GOP wants to require childless, able bodied adults to have to work to get SNAP benefits until they are 55. That would be up 6 years from the current age of 49. That is what Democrats are fighting. Remember, back in the 90s Biden loved work requirements for welfare.

POLIS'S EXTORTIONARY PROPERTY TAX "FIX" IS BEING CHALLENGED Because it clearly violates the single subject rule and more. Michael Fields from Advance Colorado has filed the suit to challenge this latest bit of nonsense from our fake libertarian governor.

IF YOU SHOP USING TEMU You have given access to your entire phone, including photos, your calendar and more, to the Chinese Communist government. Read more here and then delete the app.

THIS IS HOW YOU GET TO THE TOP OF THE LAYOFF LINE These videos are great when the job market is great. Not so much when people start getting fired. Although I agree with the sentiment, it doesn't always work like this. Watch below or click here.

AI MAKES PRESIDENTIAL DAD JOKES And though these are kind of funny, how scary is this AI? This is going to swing an election at some point. Watch below or click here.

MICHAEL MALONE IS 100% RIGHT This is EXACTLY what I (and everyone else in Denver) have been talking about, the lack of respect for the Denver Nuggets.

APPLE BANS OPENAI AND CHATGPT Because they fear that sensitive information could be stolen. Why? Well this.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple employees have also been warned against using GitHub’s AI programming assistant Copilot. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman tweeted that ChatGPT had been on Apple’s list of restricted software “for months.”
Apple has good reason to be wary. By default, OpenAI stores all interactions between users and ChatGPT. These conversations are collected to train OpenAI’s systems and can be inspected by moderators for breaking the company’s terms and services.

Take note, when a tech company worries about privacy you should worry too.

WHY VICTIM IDEOLOGY IS SO TOXIC When you are looking for discrimination you can always find it.

AND NOW, 31 INFURIATING PHOTOS TO GET YOU GOING And they are just example after example of people being aholes. Except the mouse, he's just hanging out.
