Bob Rusnak, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit Owner

Bob Rusnak is an Air Force veteran and Dickey’s Barbecue Pit owner. Born in Philadelphia and raised in New Jersey, Bob attended college at UC Berkeley, where he studied political science and landscape architecture and was awarded a varsity letter in boxing. Prior to graduation, Bob enlisted in the Air Force. Bob earned his undergraduate degree from San Jose State University and accepted a commission in the Air Force in 1985. Bob graduated 2nd in his class from Officer Training School in San Antonio TX. In addition to many Temporary Duties around the world, Bob was honored to deploy twice to combat locations; once to run a counterintelligence unit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and once as Force Protection Division Chief for all of US Forces, Afghanistan.

When he retired from the Air Force in 2012, Bob and his wife Barb opened their first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit in Colorado Springs. Over the next few years, they expanded and opened locations in the Denver area. In 2021, oldest son Bobby took over the business with the understanding Bob and Barb will help acquire more Dickey’s franchise locations along the Front Range.

Barb and I have been married for over 31 years and have been blessed with two sons, Bobby and Brett.
