Vance Joseph is back in the Mile High City.

Joseph, 50, will be the new defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. KOA Broncos Insider Benjamin Allbright confirmed the decision made by new Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

Peter Schrager of the NFL Network was the first to report the move.

Joseph was the Broncos head coach during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He teams compiled a record of 11-21. The last four seasons, Joseph has been the defensive coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals, who let him out of the final two years of his contract after they fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury and hired new head coach Jonathan Gannon.

Joseph beat out at least four other candidates for the job with the Broncos, including Rex Ryan, Sean Desai, Matt Patricia and Kris Richard. Joseph interviewed with the Eagles for their defensive coordinator job last week. That vacancy came about when Gannon left for the Cardinals.
