IS IT OKAY FOR BLACK STUDENTS TO CALL WHITE STUDENTS MAGGOTS? A group chat at Auburn University is full of racist statements and various names for white people that are not flattering. Some of them are funny (seriously, walking ranch is funny) but they are designed to demean and dehumanize white students and it's being done by black students. When College Fix reached out to them they said they were in the midst of an investigation about it, but I doubt any of the students who participated in this chat will be tossed out of school, which I'm guessing they would do if this were a bunch of white frat boys making a list of derogatory names for black people. Matt Lamb from Campus Fix joins me today with the latest, part of which is this editorial asking what the big deal is.

WHEN FAITH SHOWS UP UNEXPECTEDLY This essay by 9News Investigative Reporter Jeremy Jojola is really, really good. In it he shares how the death of his father, a man of confident faith, changed his own faith in the process. It's really good and uplifting and you should read it here.
BIDEN CAN'T FIND OHIO BUT SHOWS UP IN UKRAINE And I get that Presidents making secret trips to visit troops during wartime is always a big deal, but that's because he visits OUR troops and allegedly lifts their morale. Instead, Biden went to Ukraine to announce that you and I are going to be making the pension payments in Ukraine for those folks, and to upstage Vlad Putin who made some sort of speech the same day. In this article that talks about how Biden threw caution to the wind to make this happen I saw this quote about his bravery:
“This was a risk that Joe Biden wanted to take,” said White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield. “It's important to him to show up, even when it's hard, and he directed his team to make it happen, no matter how challenging the logistics.”
Seems like the logistics to get to East Palestine, Ohio wouldn't be that hard but oddly he hasn't made it there yet. This trip feels like an escalation and as I said yesterday, the die is cast on our participation in Ukraine. We are in it until it's over, whatever that looks like and it's not going to be pretty. And Putin is saber rattling with nukes now and one must believe it's a threat designed to dampen our enthusiasm for this ongoing war. It will work with some. What purpose did this visit serve? No one seems to know. The most interesting part of this story is that hackers took down the state broadcast of Putin's speech online, which is kind of a big deal if you ask me.
THIS AS ALLEGEDLY PUTIN HAS PLANS TO TAKE BELARUS And this is why we fight. Because Putin will not stop at Ukraine, he dreams of getting the old Soviet band back together and would likely try to take other former USSR bloc countries. I'm sure some Belarussians would be happy, but certainly not all, though their current leader is nuts too.
DON LEMON IS GOING TO RE EDUCATION CAMP After female staffers demanded he be fired for his latest sexist remarks about a "woman's prime" Lemon was yanked from the morning show this week and now we're told that he will undergo "formal training" to fix his sexism before he returns to the show he's killing. He will be back Wednesday and no word on if his formal training looks like that scene from Clockwork Orange where his eyes are held open and he's shown photos of accomplished women in their 50s. Don Lemon at CNN feels like a perfect example of the sunk cost fallacy. They've invested so much they can't let him go now. But they totally should.
THAT TIME WHEN THE 1619 PROJECT ACCIDENTALLY PROVED CAPITALISM IS THE ANSWER I am not watching the 1619 Project on Hulu because I read it the first time and know what a fantasy it mostly is. However, this guy is watching it and points out that the series tries to make capitalism the villain when in reality, it was GOVERNMENT which codified racist policies into law that created disparities that still exist today. From the Wall Street Journal:
The series also highlights the noxious role of the Federal Housing Administration in red lining. The FHA discriminated against minority neighborhoods by classifying them as too “hazardous” for lending. The writers could have strengthened their case by citing Richard Rothstein’s 2017 book, “The Color of Law.” Mr. Rothstein quotes the FHA’s statement in the 1930s that “no loans will be given to colored developments.” This policy lasted into the 1970s, leaving a legacy of economic segregation. Capitalism wasn’t the culprit; the government was. Economic historians have long known about discrimination by all-white labor unions. Jimmy Carter’s labor secretary, Ray Marshall, a labor economist, chronicled this discrimination in his academic work. The Wagner Act of 1935 gave white unions privileged bargaining positions under federal law. This government-sanctioned cartelization of labor allowed entire industries to exclude black workers. “The 1619 Project” asserts that labor unions advance the cause of civil rights, though the historical record says otherwise.
This is precisely why I don't watch stuff like this. They can't get out of their own way in their zeal to say everything Democrats love now was the answer while everything Republicans want now is the problem. Too bad history doesn't back them up.
SECTION 230 INTERNET PROTECTIONS WILL BE HEARD BY THE HIGH COURT And this could be a long overdue game changer when it comes to Big Tech. Section 230 shields Big Tech from liability from the things they post on their platforms, which is good. But what it doesn't protect them from is their ongoing interference in those postings via the amplification of certain videos by proprietary algorithms that push videos onto users. Or protect them when they censor certain viewpoints and not others, although this case will only deal with the first part. Read more here. THERE IS A PUSH TO PUT COPS BACK INTO DENVER SCHOOLS As gun crime at schools is rising after Tay Anderson successfully managed to kick School Resource Officers out of Denver schools. Now there is a move to create a new program called PEERS to help kids develop a healthy relationship with police in the hopes it can stem some of the violence occurring at Denver schools. What I'd be interested in is whether other districts which didn't remove SROs have seen similar upticks in violence at their schools.
THE DENVER GAZETTE ENDORSES KELLY BROUGH FOR MAYOR And I too was impressed by Kelly though I think her homeless plans sound like more of the same old same old. She certainly has the background knowledge of the issues that some of the other candidates do not. Read the endorsement here.

I'm not sure why he's upset Fox News got this video. If the narrative that was presented by the January 6th Committee is accurate, then Fox News will be forced to admit they have been wrong this entire time. THE NHS IS LOSING STAFF JUST AS WAIT LISTS EXPLODE And here is why single payer healthcare is a disaster. Overworked staff which is paid far less than our medical professionals here are quitting in droves, leaving the rest of the overworked staff to try and get by. Nurses there make about $41,000 a year. Doctors make $61,000 when they are a high level specialist. And liberals want to replicate this here.

A FIFTH PERSON HAS BEEN "CURED" OF HIV This is pretty remarkable considering that HIV has only been a thing for about 40 years or so. Now a fifth patient is showing no signs of the virus after being "cured" back in 2019. The cure involves a stem cell transplant from someone who carries a very specific gene that stops HIV in it's tracks.
MAYBE THIS IS WHY BREAD IN EUROPE DOESN'T KILL ME And I mean my guts but also literally kill me. We use a lot of food additives here in the US that are banned other places and it's time someone stepped up and told the extremely powerful food lobby here to tighten up and get rid of the bad stuff.
