Wed Blog: A Man Spending Big to Stop Polis, Plus Weather Wednesday!

STEVE WELLS WANTS TO STOP JARED POLIS And he's committed millions of his own money to that end. He joins me at 1 to discuss why he's doing what he's doing.

WHAT A PERFECT DAY FOR WEATHER WEDNESDAY WITH FOX 31'S DAVE FRASER We will talk about this hurricane even though it won't affect us at all and any of the weather questions I can think of.

MY FRIEND LINDSAY IS IN FORT MYERS Which is just south of where Ian is going to make landfall in Port Charlotte. I'm talking to her at 2pm today about how things are going there.

A BUNCH OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE OPTING OUT OF A NEW EXPENSIVE INSURANCE EDICT And it's comical to me (not really comical, more infuriating) when government agencies excuse themselves from a fancy new edict that the rest of us have to pay. If you want to know a big reason insurance is so expensive, look at what is mandated to be covered by government. In Colorado a law was recently passed that requires health insurance to cover IVF treatments, which are very expensive. Entities who self insure, meaning they pay the bills for healthcare for their employees, can opt OUT of this expensive mandate and that's exactly what Denver Public Schools has done. Any bill passed with this kind of fiscal impact should be REQUIRED to be followed by all government agencies. Period. They should have to bear the freight of their own decision making.

COLORADO IS NUMBER 1 IN SOME HEALTH RANKINGS From having the lowest diabetes and cancer rates in the country, to almost having the lowest rank of cardiac disease in the country, we are doing pretty dang good on health outcomes.

ANOTHER DEMOCRAT IS ACCUSED OF LYING ABOUT RESIDENCY To maintain her chance to win her seat in a newly created district. This time it's Boulder County Democrat Rep, Tracey Bernett. Ms. Bernett was redistricted out of her comfortably Democratic leaning district into a district that is more competitive. So she did what any politician wanting to keep power does, she rented an apartment she apparently doesn't live in to give the appearance of having proper residency. Now an informal complaint has been filed with the Boulder DA's office (what is an informal complaint anyway??) and we'll see if they do anything or if this is just more political scuttlebutt before an election.

THE BODY OF MOUNTAINEER HILAREE NELSON HAS BEEN RECOVERED Bringing this sad tale to its conclusion. Read more here.

WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT THE AURORA PD TOP COP JOB? Two finalists were introduced to the public yesterday and no one is happy. Cops are not happy because both of these guys are bureaucrats, and black people in Aurora are not happy because they aren't black. The Aurora PD is a mess and the Aurora City Council needs to lead on this, imo. Raise pay, commit to making the department a model for the country, do what you have to do. I feel sorry for these guys because I'm guessing they had no idea what they were really in for.

DRUNK DRIVING, STDS, AND QUIET QUITTING ARE THE NEW NORMAL I read this article last night and it's really depressing. It's like we're living in a postmodern civilization coming apart at the seams. Rates of drunk driving, sexually transmitted diseases and slacker working are off the charts and I'm trying to figure out how to bring us all back to civility.

QUIET QUITTING IS THE TREND THAT WILL DO THE MOST DAMAGE Not the workplace because grownups will always find a way to get stuff done, but to the young scamps who think "quiet quitting" will not have a response in a recession like "you're fired". Generation Z has come of age during a time when jobs were plentiful and if they weren't the government sent out checks. Those days are coming to a crashing close, and this article tells these young people that they are screwing themselves royally by being lazy at work and calling it a movement.

THE TOP 100 TV SHOWS OF ALL TIME And you have to be BOLD to sit down and try to make this list. It's not bad, but does show a modern television bias that definitely underranks a lot of the greatest shows of all time like Johnny Carson's Tonight Show and the Carol Burnett show (there is no way Key and Peele should be ahead of Carol Burnett. NO EFFING WAY.) Read them here and we can argue about this later.

IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID At least according to this poll of Likely Voters. Democrats are pretty caught up on abortion, while everyone else says the economy is the top issue.

OUR SHIFT TO REMOTE WORK DROVE UP THE COST OF HOUSING And not be a small margin. A study by the San Fran Federal Reserve Bank says that 60% of the increase in valuation of homes was driven by the switch to remote work and the ability of workers to live anywhere. Read it here.

THIS SPA IN MILAN LOOKS LIKE A BLAST Because who doesn't want to sit in a lightning storm in the water without getting zapped? Find it here if it doesn't load.

WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN TO MAKE YOU SELL NUCLEAR SECRETS TO A FOREIGN GOVERNMENT? A couple in Maryland has pleaded guilty again to trying to sell nuclear propulsion secrets to a foreign entity. The scheme was busted by the FBI and now the couple is facing jail time for the acts. What lead them to this? I'd love to know.

PHONES WERE COLLECTED FROM SECRET SERVICE AGENTS OVER JANUARY 6TH But there is nothing on them because the Secret Service says, "the messages were deleted as part of a system upgrade in which the phones were restored to the original factory settings". Funny story, I JUST DID a system update on my phone and ALL of my text message reappeared instantly. So weird how that ONLY happens to Secret Service phones, huh? Now those phones have been taken for inspection by the Inspector General.

THIS IS ONE WAY TO KILL A WASP But not a good one.

HERE ARE THE FOODS YOU SHOULD REHEAT IN THE MICROWAVE And the two I'm going to disagree with are casseroles and pasta. I can microwave both of those like a boss.

A JUDGE AWARDS A WOMAN'S BOUDOIR PHOTOS TO HER EX-HUSBAND And the reason behind this decision is solid, and that is the book of sexy photos she had made early in their marriage WAS a GIFT for him and therefore his property. The judge went further though and said the wife had the right to edit the photos to exclude any naughty bits, but the words in the book can't be edited. I think this is fair decision, the wife is beside herself though. She should consider herself lucky that she can edit the photos. If it were me, I'd use the blackest permanent marker I could find and cover everything. But that's just me.

#BRINGBACKMASKS IS TRENDING ON TWITTER AND THESE PEOPLE NEED HELP And of course those demanding we bring back masks are those who are quadruple vaccinated and begging for another shot while staring at normies like me with dagger eyes every time we exhale. This is now a mental illness level sickness, not a physical one.

OUR OVER RELIANCE ON ANTIBIOTICS HAS CREATED SUPERBUGS And we're starting to lose the ability to fight off normally beatable infections because of it. This story features a woman with a drug resistant UTI which is my worst nightmare. Read about it here, and stop asking your doctor for an antibiotic for everything please.

NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION Of course if a mom did this in the US, someone would call Child Protective Services on her.

THIS IS A SUPER CREATIVE WAY TO GET YOUR RESUME TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE But will it work remains to be seen. A woman sent a cake to a huge party at Nike headquarters with her resume printed on it. Highly creative and a great way to stand out. We'll see if she lands a gig.

THESE COPYCAT PRODUCTS ARE SAD AND YET HILARIOUS You never wanted to be the kid who had "tomato condiment" instead of ketchup at your house. Check them all out here.

A TINY SQUIRREL DOES THE STRETCHES

I WOULD LITERALLY KILL SOMEONE

AND NOW, A MAN BORN IN 1853 TALKS ABOUT GROWING UP IN THE 1860S This is fascinating.
