Ross' Thurs Blogcast: Tax hell; Three Dangerous Men;

Today's Guests

Rep Jason Smith (R-MO) is the ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee. We'll talk about this fresh hell that is the Democratic flailing and casting about for ways to steal more money from Americans to pay for their radical socialist green agenda, and I use none of those adjectives as hyperbole.

I don't know how many states have officials whose title is CFO. I like it because it reminds people of the basic financial concept of keeping cash flow reasonably balanced with expenses, something the federal government has lost sight of. We'll talk with the CFO of the State of Florida, Jimmy Patronis about what he expects from Congress and how a state can function quite well without a state income tax.

Seriously, read this book:

As a guy who majored in foreign policy and national security in college, I'm utterly fascinated by those subjects. Seth Jones' new book, "Three Dangerous Men," is one of the best-sourced and -researched books for the "ordinary" American to help us understand the events, mindsets, and people who shaped the men who now lead America's most implacable adversaries' efforts at "irregular warfare." I had heard of two of the men studied by Seth, the Russian and the (now dead) Iranian; I hadn't heard of the Chinese military leader profiled. This is a remarkable read that anybody who cares about America's national security and role in the world should buy today.

Make or break time for Joe Biden (although we've been saying that for weeks)

On Thursday morning, President Biden released a "framework" for his "Build Back Better" plan that's really just a wish list of "progressive" (read "socialist") daydreams. Here's the official announcement: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/10/28/president-biden-announces-the-build-back-better-framework/

But will it go anywhere? With the miraculous, wondrous, fantastic resistance of Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin to most of the new soak-the-rich tax proposals from Biden and others, it remains unclear whether Biden has 50 votes in the Senate (which would then allow VP Kamala "Invisible Woman" Harris to break the tie) or even whether he can get enough Democrats in the House to go along, though I think the latter is fairly likely. Biden is pushing this today so he has some kind of small win available to talk about as he travels to Europe later this week where he will meet with the Pope, meaning there will be two powerful old Catholic men utterly ignorant of economics trying to decide how to order the world.

This is what the diversity crowd has turned the US into (what's good for the goose...)
