Ross' Tues Blogcast: Great guests, Polis ends state COVID rental protection

Today's Tremendous Guests

Hunter Ripley "Rip" Rawlings III is a New York Times Best Selling Author, and served in the United States Marine Corps (23 Years) as an Infantry & LAR Reconnaissance Officer. His new book, "The Kill Box", is a great sequel to his debut novel "Assault by Fire", based on a Russian invasion of the United States and the resistance by an out-manned and out-supplied American force in the hills of West Virginia. It's a LOT of fun.

Robert A. Pape is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago specializing in international security affairs and Director of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats: UChicago CPOST

I didn’t spend a lot of time talking about what happened on January 6th. It was a travesty and I’m not interested in efforts by anyone to defend it. But with more data now coming from research into the people who were involved, it raises a question about how likely something similar may be in the future. Bob Pape is the man behind this research and his conclusions are fascinating and somewhat frightening.

COLORADO STUFF

Gov Polis ends additional COVID-related protection for renters, and I'm glad

This is good news even if it's not very big news: Colorado's last pandemic renter protections end, but new law may help fill gaps - Colorado Newsline

I wonder how much of the increase in rent is due to the prior so-called protection.: Apartment rents in Denver metro nearly 17% higher than last year (thedenverchannel.com)

Here's the bill that the state legislature passed to restrict landlords' ability to go after late-paying tenants; it was dramatically weakened (which is good) by huge pushback from various kinds of landlords: Rights In Residential Lease Agreements | Colorado General Assembly

This may happen after all:

I heard, on KOA's news broadcast, someone saying that a $400 payment to each vaccinated city employee would be a "thank you from the city." NO! It's a transfer from Denver's taxpayers to Denver's employees for doing something that most of the rest of Denver's employees have to do without getting any "bonus".
