THE COLORADO INDEPENDENT REDISTRICTING COMMISSION IS MOVING FORWARD WITH THE NEW MAP OF CONGRESSIONAL CHANGES. THE MAP INCLUDES A NEW *EIGHTH* DISTRICT... AS WELL AS CHANGES TO THE SECOND AND THIRD DISTRICTS. THOSE CHANGES WOULD PUT REPRESENTATIVE LAUREN BOEBERT IN A RACE AGAINST REPRESENTATIVE JOE NEGUSE.
WE'RE LOOKING AT THE REDISTRICTING PROCESS... WITH COMMISSION MEMBER BILL LEONE.
((INFO))
--Here's how the map is drawn out from a voter registration standpoint:
• Three solid Democratic districts in the 1st, 2nd and 6th Districts.
• Two solid Republican districts in the 4th and 5th Districts.
• Republican-leaning 3rd District.
• Democratic-leaning 7th and 8th Districts.
--In the new proposed map, the 2nd District now extends from Boulder and Larimer counties to Moffat and Garfield.
--The changes to the 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts could put Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert in a race against Democratic Rep. Joe Neguse.
-- The state's new proposed 8th District was shifted slightly north from the preliminary proposal.
