THE HEATWAVE AND HAZE GRIPPING THE FRONT RANGE IS WREAKING HAVOC ON OUR STATE'S AIR QUALITY. THE EXTREME HEAT DRAGGED COLORADO'S AIR QUALITY DOWN TO UNHEALTHY LEVELS THIS WEEK. AN OZONE ACTION DAY ALERT IS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.

--Air-quality levels in Denver and other areas along the Front Range had reached unhealthy levels by Tuesday evening. Experts warned that trend could continue this week as temperatures spike.

-- On Wednesday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued an Ozone Action Day Alert for the Front Range Urban Corridor from Douglas County north to Larimer and Weld counties, including the Denver-Boulder area, Fort Collins and Greeley. TheOzone Action Day Alert will remain in effect until at least 4 p.m. Thursday.
