RMNP's Kyle Patterson on Reservation System

SUMMER TIME IS HERE AND IT’S A PERFECT TIME TO VISIT ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK…. JUST REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO *PICK* YOUR TIME TO VISIT. AS PART OF ITS PHASED RE-OPENING… THE PARK IS REQUIRING RESERVATIONS FOR ENTRY. THE PARK IS MANAGING THE NUMBER OF VISITORS EACH DAY… AND THAT MEANS LONG LINES ARE POSSIBLE AND PEOPLE WITHOUT RESERVATIONS COULD GET TURNED AWAY.

WE’RE LOOKING AT THE TIMED ENTRY SYSTEM… WITH ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK’S KYLE PATTERSON.

((INFO))

-- RMNP moved to timed entry system on May 28.

-- Reservations are available on Recreation.gov

-- There are two types of reservations: One that gives access to Bear Lake Corridor and the entire park, and one that excludes Bear Lake Corridor but gives access to the rest of the park

-- Reservations are now available through the end of July. On July 1, at 10 a.m. (MDT), reservations will be available for the month of August and any remaining days that have not been booked for July. On August 1, at 10 a.m. (MDT), reservations will be available for the month of September and any remaining days in August that have not been booked. On September 1, at 10 a.m. (MDT), reservations will be available for October and any remaining days in September that have not been booked.

-- Initially, 25 percent of permits will be held and available for purchase the day prior at 5 p.m. through recreation.gov. These are expected to sell out quickly and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead when possible.
