DPD Police Chief Paul Pazen on Public Safety Plans

CITY LEADERS INCLUDING DENVER MAYOR MICHAEL HANCOCK AND POLICE CHIEF PAUL PAZEN... ARE MOVING FORWARD WITH A PUBLIC SAFETY RECOVERY AND REFORM PLAN FOCUSED ON POLICING AND TRANSPARENCY. THEY HIGHLIGHTED FIVE NEIGHBORHOODS THAT ARE HOTSPOTS FOR CRIME AND SAID FOOT PATROLS WOULD BE INCREASED. AT THE SAME TIME... A COMMUNITY TASK FORCE RELEASED A REPORT DETAILING 112 POSSIBLE POLICE REFORMS.

RIGHT NOW... WE'RE LOOKING AT THE PUBLIC SAFETY PLAN... WITH DENVER POLICE CHIEF PAUL PAZEN.

-- According to Hancock and Pazen, five areas in the city that account for 1.56% of the city’s landmass accounted for 26% of homicides and aggravated assaults, along with 49% of shootings. There will be a bigger emphasis on these hotspots, and freeing up more resources for community policing.

-- Part of the plan includes building a better relationship with the community. QUOTE FROM PAZEN:“This is also a call to action for residents, faith-based groups, neighborhood and business associations and non-profits to partner with us, be it through community outreach, sharing crime prevention tips, reporting crime and safety issues, and more, to help increase safety and prevent crime in our neighborhoods.”
