THE DANISH MASK STUDY IS OUT AND MASKS DON'T WORK! There is nothing surprising about this out come but I am oddly satisfied anyway. So you don't have to read it, although you can right here, almost 6000 Danish people signed up and were assigned to wear a mask whenever they were outside their homes or to not wear one at all. Every person chosen is outside their home at LEAST three hours a day, many of them work in transportation or groceries where they come in contact with LOTS of people daily. The results? Just read this:
In this community-based, randomized controlled trial conducted in a setting where mask wearing was uncommon and was not among other recommended public health measures related to COVID-19, a recommendation to wear a surgical mask when outside the home among others did not reduce, at conventional levels of statistical significance, incident SARS-CoV-2 infection compared with no mask recommendation.
Now that's not to say this study is perfect. The authors go on to say:
The findings, however, should not be used to conclude that a recommendation for everyone to wear masks in the community would not be effective in reducing SARS-CoV-2 infections, because the trial did not test the role of masks in source control of SARS-CoV-2 infection. During the study period, authorities did not recommend face mask use outside hospital settings and mask use was rare in community settings (22). This means that study participants' exposure was overwhelmingly to persons not wearing masks.
So who wants to do another study here in Colorado where everyone is wearing masks? I'll volunteer to be in the no mask group today. Expect every major media outlet to speak to any doctor who thinks masks work as they report on this study.

WHY ARE CHARTER SCHOOLS ABLE TO KEEP KIDS IN SCHOOL? This is another reason I'm very happy to be a charter school parent. Charter schools are making the decision to NOT go back to online learning in JeffCo, even after the district sent the rest of the students back to online learning. Why? Because they know kids need to be IN THE CLASSROOM, not sitting in front of a computer. This is a great story on a couple of charters in JeffCo doing a great job for their kids. Side note: there is not teacher's union in these schools to demand a shutdown.

He said the table was outside, but he was still sorry. Now we know EXACTLY what happened because a diner who was also at the restaurant snapped some photos of the Governor sitting at a large table, shoulder to shoulder, no masks in sight.
