THE CATS FROM TIGER KING ARE IN COLORADO Not all of them, but a lot of them. They are at a magical place called the Wild Animal Sanctuary, and it's in Keeneland and it's someplace to visit if you haven't already. It's a carnivore sanctuary full of big cats and animals that were abused and abandoned or in circuses or zoos or people's homes and now they live in huge open spaces where they can roam around and be as free as a captive raised animal can be. I've got the Executive Director Pat Craig on today to talk about how you can support the care and feeding of these incredible animals. If you haven't been, wear comfortable shoes and take some binoculars. Donate to Wild Animal Sanctuary by clicking here!
IF YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT TIGER KING It's the wildly popular Netflix about this crazy Oklahoma dude with a bad mullet who kept tigers and may have had someone killed. Find out more by clicking here, but it's cray cray, so you've been warned.

CHARLES IS UNDER THE WEATHER BUT WILL ON MONDAY INSTEAD! No, he doesn't have Coronavirus, he'll be fine, just not feeling well today.
LET'S USE CORONAVIRUS TO END THE SCOURGE OF CARS! It's not the least bit surprising that various political factions are trying to figure out how to use this crisis to their advantage. This story is about an organization trying to use this situation to get us out of our cars. Don't get me wrong, I do think that people have discovered how much they can do by NOT being in their cars for commutes and whatnot, but it just seems...unseemly to have these kind of discussions during a pandemic. Doesn't it?
A LOCAL EXAMPLE OF THE WASTE IN THE LATEST STIMULUS BILL And it comes from Colorado Mountain College, who is using their windfall on all sorts of stuff not really related to the virus. This is just one example of why Congressman Ken Buck voted against the bill.
HOW DID GERMANY GET AHEAD OF COVID 19? This is really interesting, as it demonstrates the level of granular detail the Germans gathered when they had the first cases break out so they could trace them and quarantine those people who had been exposed. Kinda cool.
HOLY COW, GAS IS SO CHEAP! TOO BAD THERE IS NOWHERE TO GO. Right now I'm getting about a month to the gallon. But the last time I went out I filled up my car for $1.79!! Too bad there is nowhere to go. Gas prices are super low all over the country.

EVERYBODY NEEDS A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE FROM CS LEWIS ABOUT NOW Here is a great column about author and poet CS Lewis during war time and what he shared to keep everyone going.
THIS IS ANOTHER REASON I DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO MODELS I know policymakers need SOMETHING to base their decision making on, but we all need to be clear about what models are. They are guesses created using assumptions that are also best guesses and they are JUST BEST GUESSES. And now the best guess being used by the government has been revised down significantly from earlier predictions of deaths over 100,000. Read about it here.
YES, 100% I AGREE WITH THIS ABOUT THE WHITE HOUSE CORONAVIRUS BRIEFINGS In the beginning, I thought they were terribly important. Now, I think they have devolved into peeing matches between the President and the White House Press. It's getting close to being a total waste of time. And I hold the media and the President responsible. The Wall Street Journal agrees in this column.
The briefings began as a good idea to educate the public about the dangers of the virus, how Americans should change their behavior, and what the government is doing to combat it. They showed seriousness of purpose, action to mobilize public and private resources, and a sense of optimism. Mr. Trump benefitted in the polls not because he was the center of attention but because he showed he had put together a team of experts working to overcome a national health crisis.
But sometime in the last three weeks Mr. Trump seems to have concluded that the briefings could be a showcase for him. Perhaps they substitute in his mind for the campaign rallies he can no longer hold because of the risks. Perhaps he resented the media adulation that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been receiving for his daily show. Whatever the reason, the briefings are now all about the President.
THINKING ABOUT PLANTING YOUR OWN VICTORY GARDEN? I love to garden. I live in an area where the deer eat EVERYTHING (and I'm in a neighborhood so I can't just shoot them) so I container garden on my deck. This is a great article on how to get started if you've never gardened before. Gardening is about patience. But it's so worth it!
SWEDEN'S LAISSEZ FAIRE APPROACH TO THE VIRUS MAY NOT BE A GOOD ONE As deaths and cases are now skyrocketing in a country which has instituted no shutdowns or social distancing edicts. I must tell you, I SO wanted this to work, but it does not appear to be a better, or even decent strategy currently.
