Avalanche warnings are up for much of central and northern Colorado today.
The Colorado Avalanche Information Center puts the danger at a four out of a possible five. It should drop to a level three Sunday, which does not mean there is no danger. Officials encourage those in the backcountry to avoid slopes of more than 30 degrees, and to carry beacons.
