Act Would Prevent Hairstyle Discrimination

A bill that would prevent discrimination for hair texture or style has passed its first test in a Colorado house committee. The "Crown Act" would protect people with hairstyles like dreadlocks, corn rows, twists, and others.

Democratic state representative Leslie Herod of Denver says the bill would be important for racial equality and freedom of expression.

More than 100 supporters of the Crown Act attended a Black Caucus community hearing.
