Violent, Habitual Offender Gets 96 Years in Prison

A Greeley man with an extensive criminal history has been sentenced in Weld County to 96 years in prison.

Phillip Romero was found guilty of beating a woman in his Greeley home. She suffered a broken leg and had bruises all over her body. The victim also told police that Romero grabbed a knife and threatened to stab her several times.

Romero was convicted on first degree assault, 2nd degree assault, menacing and false imprisonment.

Before sentencing, prosecutors told the judge that Romero was a habitual offender and a violent person.
